I have thick hair bobbed off below my ears. I want to get some layers put in to lighten it up a bit. I need to know if layers can be cut in a way so that they start in front at like 4 inches long and gradually get longer as you go toward the back. Is there a way that this can be done? Is there a certain name for this or a way to tell my stylist what I want?

Hi bobbed:
I don't know of any special name for what you are describing but I think if you ask you stylist for layers that are short in the front and overdirected from the middle of the back to each side going toward the front you may get what you are looking for. Let me know if this helped you out. Forest
