Does anyone know what this is all about?  Why is it necessary to use an iron to 'set' a skin weft?  I have heard of this before, but can't figure out why it should be done.

Hairpiece.com sells an iron for skin wefts and dr. locks has a tutorial on their site about it too:

What's the advantage?

It's to help the glue 'stick' to the extension before you put it in i believe.

I like to use my flatiron to 'set' the tape on the wefts before I install them. You could also use the flatiron after you attach them to your hair.

I tried this and when I pulled the backing off of the tape, the tape came right off the weft! What am I doing wrong?
