Hi again! I was just wondering if i wouldn't have used the dark "ash" blonde and would have used the dark blonde would my hair have been so brassy? BTW- I'm the one with the med. warm brown hair. I say that I am MWB because I once screwed my hair up pretty bad, I turned it green, and the hair dresser said that I was a med warm brown. How she could tell by the green tint I don't know. But I have a lot of red in my hair. You mentioned cool shades of hair color, what is that? Do I need to stop using the ash shades? Oh, if I used a medium blonde in my hair, what color would it turn it, in general? TIA ~S

Hi Tia:
Let me try and give you a quick lesson in haircolor. If you have medium brown hair you probably have alot of red-gold that will show when you try to lighten it a couple of shades. What you need to do is find a haircolor that has a green base, which is an ash tone, to counteract red or red-gold that has been brought out with the lightener or hi-lift tint. If you have gotten to an orange or orange-gold shade then you need to find a haircolor that has a blue base. When you look at the haircolor bottles in the store there will always be a color name followed by a letter - R=red, o=orange, b=blue, gn=green, bv=blue-violet etc. and sometimes a level number. Level 1 = black going up to 10 = a light blonde shade. You should always remember that coloring hair is a tricky deal. Not only to hair colorists trained to do the job, but especially to someone that hasn't been trained. Another thing to remember is that the cool shades of tint will be colors with blue, blue-violet, green bases. The warm colors of tint will include yellow, gold, orange, red-orange. I hope some of this info can help you out. Write me back. Forest
