Hi everybody!

This message is intended to be taken in a positive vein...

I would like to encourage everyone who reads this board, to post here -- add a comment to an existing thread of discussion, or start a new topic.  If you aren't registered, it's very easy to do, and absolutely free.  Surely there are thoughts, issues, and feelings related to the topic that are floating around in your brains and waiting to be expressed.  Well, I'm sure we'd all like to read about them here -- and talk about them too.

I agree with you.It is more fun with active board members.  You don't need to be a pro to answer a question or two.I am going to try to be more active.

It is very nice. the name of the topic really thrills me. It is nice to have a long hair , I enjoy it . I take atleast 15 to 20 min daily on it. I really love it and i love interacting with similar interested people.

I love all styles. I dont differentiate between men and women when it comes to hair styles. I am comfortable with both. In fact now iam sporting only long plaits ( My hair is 30 -32 inches long ) I would like to have different styles of plaits and buns. My wife is very supportive of my long hair

Forums suggestions are invited for different plaits and bun styles for me

After years of wearing fairly short hair, over the past year I have been growing my hair long, for the first time in years.

My hair is now several inches past my shoulders. I am enjoying having long hair again. Maybe it's a middle aged crisis thing, growing my hair long. Some guys get a 20 year old mistress. Other guys buy a sports car. And other guys grow their hair long.
Or maybe I just feel like having long hair. I don't care why I am growing my hair long. I just like having long hair.
I wear earrings and a goatee beard also. I'm in my 40s, so I am hip and middle aged! Haha!

My teenaged daughter told me I am more cool than some of the young guys!

Thanks everybody!  The increased participation is great to see.   I know I haven't been around much lately  but hopefully that'll improve.

Don't worry, SK or Rini.  I sometimes feel like I'm overbearing - but I don't try to be.  I figure if anyone thinks "ugh, yet another message from Dave," then they are welcome to not read it.

Hi, Dave, I don't think too many people think that....it is always nice to read what you wrote, IMO. I like the idea and am supportive of long hair all the way.

A friend of mine recently asked me to cut her hair from waist length to bra length. I was absolutely horrified. But she was serious, so I did as she asked (not with a very willing heart, I'm afraid!) . Everyone who is growing out your hair, hang in there! It'll be worth it!

Hi,
I'm new to this site and I'm so amazed at what everyone considers to be long hair...
I'm a female and live in Florida.  I've been letting my hair grow for about 13 years and it's only grown five feet.  I'm looking for others that have truly long hair, natural and real, so I can discuss different styles and ways to wear it.  I'm having more problems the longer it gets, like stepping on it and it gets tangled easily since my arms aren't long enough to brush it in one stroke.  Questions are welcome and any advice towards care for my hair.  Thanks

Welcome Longhaired1!

I too am in Florida, and have hair that is about 5 feet long... No, we sure can't comb or brush through our hair without using something to "fold" the hair.  I use my fist, sometimes an open hand, although using the fist is less likely to cause snags... And when it's loose, I do have to take care to assure that I don't step on it, especially when standing up straight after having leaned over or crouched down to pick up something.  I seem to manage just fine, though....

Looking forward to your continued participation here.

Yeah, I say 'only' five feet because SO many people THINK they have long hair...  They don't know what long hair IS!  When it's cool outside or when I'm in the house with the AC on, I wear my hair in a ponytail wrapped around my neck, then let the rest of it hang down.  I can wrap it around my neck twice and the remaining hair still goes down to my, well, past my boobs...  It's a hassel, but well worth it.
I've never seen anyone else with hair this long.  I guess it's five feet, five inches long because that's how tall I am and it touches the floor when I don't have boots on.
I don't know how to post a picture otherwise I would, although I don't have any recent ones.
Write back anytime.

I love horses too...  I used to have a horse and I braided his tail and mane and my hair too, then had a picture taken of us together.  I have that picture around here somewhere.

I don't know how to post a picture, so until someone gives me instructions on how to do it, you'll just have to use your imagination...

Browsing the magazine racks recently and saw the cover of a horse magazine featuring a horse with a very long and well-groomed mane.  Don't recall the name of the publication, off-hand.

Hi Everyone

I love reading about long hair and have wanted to grow my hair long for most of my life.  being a guy, this has been tough at times with work and most other guys telling you to get it cut.

But I have persisted and enjoy the feelings you get with having longer hair.  And i'm thinking why should the girls have all the fun with their longer hair.

I enjoy reading the forum and love discussions about different ways to wear your hair.  I also love going to the hairdresser and have found a stylist that encourages me to grow it.

Here are some recent photos.

Hi all,

As i am still on my long hair journey i am yet to know the true feeling of waistlength(my goal) hair, i am at bra strap at the moment and adore the feeling of my hair tickling my back or my shoulders or the way it blows in a breeze!

All the female members of the site who have posted hair pics each and every one of you have beautiful hair, thats what is so interesting about hair the unquieness of it

Dave and the other male members, well done for not following the crowd!
Long hair on a guy has the element of sexiness and romance(thinking about it making me feel all giddy quick need another damp towel, or second thoughts someone throw a bucket of ice cold water over me that will sort me out!)

Welcome LuvitLong!  Your hair looks thick and healthy.  Do you plan to grow it longer?

Sorry Kate, I wish I could help you out, but I wouldn't want to dampen your enthusiasm.

My Longhaired1, that's quite a lot of gorgeous hair you've got there...

Longhaired1 here,
to add to the comment made about loving the feel of your hair touching your back, imagine how it feels as it gets longer...  As it grows longer, it's a great feeling and a new sensation to each part of your body...  At times it used to feel like being caught in a spider's web all over my arms, but it's so soft and silky, it's a truely sensual and sensational feeling.  I used to get a thrill when I felt it tickle my calves with each step!  Now it's like a blanket!
I'd just like to encourage everyone to LET IT GROW!
It takes a lot of patience, so hang in there.  It has it's own rewards and has a way of turning heads!
It's an asset and an excellent conversation piece...  No puns intended
Good luck to all of those who are trying and don't give up!

Hey Sunsailing,

My hair is about as long as Longhaired1's is, and IMO your hair is most definitely long.

That said, I don't agree with the opinion that (for women) shoulder-length is long.  I mean, Longhaired1 and I (and others) prove that hair can be grown very much longer than shoulder-length.  So it seems biased to me to say that shoulder-length is long.  But for men, I'd say that that is long, but that's relative to the overwhelming majority of short-haired men in the world (maybe, 98% or more?).

I will add that everybody who is supportive of long hair, no matter their gender or current hair length, is welcome here, and the talk forum contributors are valued and appreciated.  It is heartening to see members here being inspired to wear their hair long, and/or to grow it long/longer.

Hi,

Longhaired1 here, I guess it's okay for you to use my picture.  It is a sight isn't it?  I didn't realize it looked like that until I saw the picture too!!!
It a view I don't get to see, I'm like on the inside looking out and can't see things the way others do...
I hope my picture is inspirational to all who see it and gives them encouragement & hope!
Sincerely, Longhaired1
PS I'm about 5' 5" tall and it looks like my hair is on the floor, I gave up trying to measure it.

Yes, long it is ... but the down side is ... it's tooooo hot to wear your hair down here in Florida, unless of course you stay in the AC and if you're inside, no one see it anyway!
When I went to the local mall a couple of years ago, it sure turned heads wearing it down, most of the people walked around like zombies, stumbling, not looking where they were going and their mouths hanging opened.  Then there were the others that actually did come up and state the obvious...  Like, "Your hair is LONG!"
I must admit, the question that gets asked the most is; "Is that real?"  Or "Is all that really yours?!
Can I ask, has anyone ever seen anyone wearing a wig that long?  Except at Halloween maybe?
The most intelligent question that ever gets asked is; "How long have you been letting it grow?"
I wish I would have written it down when I got it cut last but I had no idea or plan to let it grow this long 'again'.  When I cut it last, it was down to my calves!
When asked; "Why do I let it grow long?"  I reply; "Because I can."
I feel bad for those who can't grow their hair long, or it stops at a certain length.
I am basically a shy person, although some say that's antisocial.
I don't like to be the center of attention, I'm not a good conversationalist.  I guess that makes me a good listener.
Has anyone else out there been asked some really ridiculous questions pertaining to their hair?

Yes, unfortunately some of us have a  'set point', beyond which hair will not grow, not matter the incentive. **sigh** Mine has maxed out again at my waist.

Actually, I CAN answer this question when asked! When I was driving my Miata, I had a brush-cut (platinum-blonde as well). When I totalled the car, I quit cutting my hair.

The answer is '1994'.

I like the way you think.  Your hair is incredibly thick and lush!  I'm not sure I should say this, but the first thing that went through my mind when I saw your picture was that I'd love to run my hands through all of that incredible, thick hair!

I wish you all the best with growing your hair.

Hi Longhaired1,

Your hair isn't just long, it's gorgeous!

Quote I must admit, the question that gets asked the most is; "Is that real?"  Or "Is all that really yours?!

What if....just what if someone asked a woman with huge breasts, "Are those real?"  I think most people would find the question incredibly rude.  Although breasts are usually (not always) covered up with clothing and your hair is not covered, there is no difference in the invasiveness or the rudeness of the question whether asked of breasts or hair.

You could always reply, "Is yours?"  or "Why would you ask such a rude question?  What difference does it make to you?"

It's sad that you have to be hassled.  Thanks for showing your picture.  I really enjoyed seeing your hair.

All the best,

anne

What is a brush-cut?  I'm thinking in terms of hairbrush, but that doesn't make much sense.

A brush-cut is rather like a crew-cut. about 1/2" long on top and sticks up like a brush.

Another one chiming in to say how amazing your hair is Longhaired1. Beautiful colour, shine, etc and still quite thick at the ends! I don't want my hair to get longer than it is and am probably going to have it trimmed up a bit but if I could switch hair for a day yours would be near the top of my list.
