I have always used glued in wefts (HORRIBLE!!! EXPERIENCE FOR ME!!) the glue bunches up, it takes forever to come out, half my hair comes out with it. Although after the massacre to my hair it always comes out healthy within the next few days somehow.

I was interested in PROTAC.. but I really from these posts can't figure out how you really use it. I would love to do fusion hair extensions myself, I can't see them being that hard. Buy a hotpot, fusion pellets, and melt them, pretip hair and put them in. Not hard.

Protac interests me though because its a tape, how exactly do i use it. I will be used machine wefted hair. I will cut it off, apply it to the tape, and put it on my hair? Do I apply heat to make it stick. Or does the tape just stick. Can I apply the tape to my hair and then apply LG to my hair?

So Many questions! Please someone help. If you have a good tutorial explaining this, that'd be amazing. I just am not getting the idea.

Oh, does anyone know of any places which sell protac? I live in the US. I don't want to order from somewhere far, because shipping rates will be insane.

Thank you guys so much! I'm new to this Forum!

hi xxsatiation. Welcome to the forum!

Heres a demo I did on the pro-tac installation. Its a great starting point. And then there are alot of little variations that people are coming up with to 'customize' the method to their own needs.

check out that thread and then ask anything you need to ask, alot of girls here are using the pro-tac and will answer any questions you may have.

It's so simple, it's the perfect method I think! It is installed easily and comes out easily, check out sherrie's link, it will explain everything.

Most of us use heat to set the tapes and make them stick better in the hair, b ut you don't have to.

And I've heard mixed reviews about using tape and glue. I personally used latex glue with pro-tacs which was a disaster!! But otherwise, I've found the tapes hold well enough without the glue.

Oh, and sherrie sells protac! For a great price might I add

I did goto her store! It was amazing. I def will be buying stuff later. I am going to try the pro-tac method out. But I have a question. How long does it last? I always have a problem with the weft showing. I saw a post not too old from now. Where a girl cut the weft line off and just used the hair on the tape? Is that possible. Have any of you tried it? If this doesnt work out I am going to try fusion. I never have. Anyone know where I can also buy not that expensive fusion supplies, besides on ebay? or a Good Ebay supplier of pretipped hair and heat clamps or hot pots?

From what I have been reading, everyone gets a different length of time out of Protac.  I just started using Protac on Friday and I love it.  It's really easy.  Also, I think I'm the person you are referring to that removed the weft from the hair so that it could be placed closer to the hairline.  I've had this in now for a couple days, so it's too early to tell how long it will last, but so far I've had no shedding and the protac feels really secure.  I recommend applying liquid gold to the edges of the hair once their cut and heating the strip with the hair in the middle so that everything bonds together really well.  Good luck!

Ladies, I am still very much a newbie and can't for the life of me get this protac thing down. How do you keep it from sticking to your fingers, etc when you are removing the backing?

I must be really stupid, cause this is not as easy for me as it seems to be for all of you gals (and of course, guy...MOFF).

I peel up the corner with my nail and then hold onto the back (that still has the backing).  Once I place it against my scalp,  the backing comes off very easily.  I've also found that if you use heat to adhere the protac to the weave, the backing comes off much easier.

yeah i still am confused i guess. so its suppose to be less obvious - but you still are using the weft line. im confused. why dont you just cut it off the weft and put it on the protac. seal the one edge over the hair. and then use some LG to seal it?
