So i'm obviously a newbie and i need some hair help. I have naturally really curly hair((exactly like Tia and/or Tamera Mowry the twins from the show Sister Sister))  and I love it i really do but sometimes i want a change. It doesn't help that i'm one of those people who gets really bored with my hair and likes to change it up often. I don't have the money to go to a salon every 2 weeks get my hair done or even every month for that matter. So anyways I was wondering if anyone had some good tips to get my hair sleek and silky straight. I have read stuff about the japanese straighting and i can't get that because i simply can't afford it. I am talking about straightening with a flat iron. I have a nice expensive one but my hair is sooo frizzy and limp after i straighten it so I was wondering if anyone had any good tips or product advice for me.

Thanks

yeah my hair is washed, conditioned and dried. I use avon stuff but it's for wavy hair not curly((i didn't realize that before I got it)) I also use smoothing blow drying gel by Thermasilk before i blow dry my hair. Then after i blowdry it i use a flatiron.

Welcome CandyK, are you concered about the health of your hair or simply the style. how often do you plan on straightening your hair?  if the health is not much of a concern, make sure that you use a protectant, start at sallys beauty supply store, they have some good ion protectant to start with.

do some research on smoothing conditioners, im not so sure about their results eventhough i use one from suave with pro vitamins. my hair is braided upp, i cant remember the texture after using the suave.

Hi Candy.  My hair is a lot like Tia and Tamera's also so I know where you're coming from.  You definitely don't need a relaxer or that Japanese straightening thing to get your hair straight.  You just need a good flat iron and heat protectant.  I  have a maxiglide flat iron and I can get my hair bone straight like I have a relaxer and it stays that way until I shampoo it out (as long as it's not humid).

If you want shiny straight hair after your hair is dry put protecant, and oil and after you flat iron put a little more oil to keep it shiny. also what is Japanese straighting?
