I saw that on anitagrant.com that she was selling pure whipped shea butter and I was like hey I have shea butter let me whip it myself. Wow! I know it sounds strange but the shea butter felt more moisturizing than before. I didn't add anything to it just beat and it turned a nice creamy texture. It helped define my waves when I did the scarf method so I thought I would pass it along

Anita has some wonderful looking products.  If shipping wasn't so costly I would definitely order from there.  I want to try whipping my shea butter also.  Did you just use a hand mixer?

I know her products look wonderful, I am going to have to save up I used a regular beater (like one to beat eggs) because my shea is soft but not that soft to use a electric mixer....maybe after user the beater to get it smooth you can use the electric to really beat it but I used the beater with no problem HTH

I heated mine up for about 15 sec then whipped it, whipped it good ()

Now does it stay at the whipped texture or does it revert back to being hard?

NOTE:  I've added coconut oil and whipped it again, and it has remained the whipped texture.  I guess it was just trial and error.

How do you guys use the shea butter in your hair. I have a BIG jar of it, but only use it on my skin. I used to use it in my hair to smooth back in a ponytail but found that it made my hair feel really greasy! And I would always get that shiny film at the top of my forehead!!
Is it a good moisturizer? Hair oil? Conditioner?....

I love unrefined shea butter It can be heavy so a very little bit goes a long way and I found that whipping it helps it absorb better. It looks like you have relaxed hair so I would suggest using it for braid outs, pre-poo treatments (really helps soften dry hair), or to seal the ends of your hair. Shea has alot of moisture it it so it is both a good moisturize and hair oil. HTH
