I've dyed my hair quite a few times and its sort of on the fried side. My hair on a whole is not too unhealthy but my ends aren't in the greatest shape. Its not too bad but i just don't want to get my hair done and have it all fall out or something. If i can i will take a picture of my hair and post it to give you a better idea of the condition my hair is in.

So, are you planning on having it done at the salon? If so, I would say that  you don't have to worry (though I'm sure people have stories to tell that would say otherwise!). They shouldn't do anything to your hair to make it fall out or break off. What I mean is they should know better and would tell you if they think what you want is not a good idea. You should go for a consultation first. EVERY time I go to my stylist I remind her not to do anything to cause my hair to fall out. She probably doesn't need to be told, but it just gives me peace of mind. I've been bleaching for about 6 years or so -- so my hair has been through the ringer for sure, BUT it's as healthy as can be.

Do make it a point to tell the stylist you talk to that you are concerned about your hair and that you DON'T want to lose it. Just in case they're looking to recruit people for hair extensions if you know what I mean.
