I have waist length oily hair. I read that you shouldn`t wash your hair to much or it could get dry and brittle. But in my case daily washings are a must. And so far I`ve only had a couple of dry spells with my hair. Any one with long oily hair have any suggestion or tips?

Thanks Much.

You could try just washing your scalp and the hair that directly touches it. That way the ends arent losing precious moisture. Also you can, if you aren`t already doing so, try a shampoo and conditioner for oily hair. Good luck!

I agree with ladykera, shampoo your scalp, but avoid shampooing the length. You could even apply conditioner to the length prior to shampooing your scalp, shampoo, rinse it all out and condition again. The first conditioner will protect your length and ends from the drying effects of the shampoo.

Something to consider: daily shampooing (especially with a strong shampoo) may be causing a rebound effect for your scalp. If you strip oil from your scalp (or face), it will produce more to compensate. I used to have to shampoo daily when I used shampoos with Ammonium Lauryl (or Laureth) Sulfate. I switched to a moisturizing shampoo (Nexxus Therappe) with Sodium Laureth Sulfate and I now shampoo only 3 days a week. Could you be stripping your scalp oils? Just a thought.

Even if you still need to shampoo daily, protect those ends! :-)
