my girlfriend has hair to her chin and wants me and her to get the same flattop from my barber. she's about 5' feet tall and 108 lbs. she also has a good tan, her hair is light brown but wants a skin to show through very short platinum white flattop. What should I do.

If that is what she wants I see no reason to prohibit her from getting a guys flat top haircut. I am a guy and I have a bob hairstyle with bangs which is considered by most as a girls hairstyle. It is high time that people stopped thinking about hair and clothes in terms of guys or girls and just let people have the hair and wear the clothes that they feel comfortable in.

Tough one. You have to be careful and not push too hard on your opinion, otherwise you might lose her, as well as, her hair. Do you have a platinum flattop? If you don't (and don't want one) tell her so. Also tell her that while it is her choice, you probably would favor something else less dramatic. Maybe you can get some haircut magazines and find a style or two that would satisfy her desire to change. Good luck - some women tend to get very emotional about their hair and you have to walk the line very carefully in order not to upset them.

If that's what she wants then you have no right to hold her back. Ask yourself; does she want it to make a particular statement, if so, what is it, does it reflect on you? Hopefully the answer will be no, she just wants that hairstyle for its own sake, in which case, relax and enjoy!
