i knew a gurl that got her hair done at a salon by a white woman. she would have it straightened and relaxed by her 2. ive heard ppl say they would never let some1 of another race do their hair cuz they wouldnt know what they are doing. i guess they think just becuz they arent black, a hair dresser cant learn how to handle our very different hair. but does it matter?
to me, either u have skill or u dont. just becuz u are black doesnt mean u know how 2 do hair, cuz there are plenty of black hair dressers that are horrible with hair at the salon. i hate the fact that in the 20th century, sum ppl are still putting race ahead of every aspect of their life, even with sumthin as simple as hair. c'mon now ladies!!! i know yall feel me on this 1
 just thought i would open up the discussion on this topic becuz it comes up often. ~RESPONSES PLEEEZ~

It doesnt matter to me what race the person is as long as they know what they are doing. Just because a person may be of a different race doesnt mean that they are any more or less skilled at doing your hair than a person of your own race. If you find someone of a diffrent race who is helping your hair stay healthy and growing why not stick with them? ------------- longhairgrower |

i have met some white girls and spanish girls that can trim and color hair better than black ones so no it does not mattter to me. Nowadays i will only go to a salon to get cornrows, braids, a trim or color- that's it. Primarily for trims. ------------- Me and you, your cousin and your momma too rollin on da strip on bow's |

i believe you must see the persons work before deciding, and be comfortable with the person. i would prefer someone that is a profesional and understand my own personal type of hair and profesionals should be able to work with different races.

I am black and I have done white, asian , hispanic, you name it . If you study and learn how to do it all, you can do it all. I don't think race matters ------------- lovelove |

I also do not care what the race of the person is or if they are a male or female. As long as they are concern about my hair goals,my hair health and give my exactly what I want they are fine with me. ------------- "God makes no mistakes" he created you the way you are suppose to be. |

In my case when I went to get Miri's hair trimmed the asian there did it better than the black lady there so I think it doesn't matter on the persons race; its their ability to do their job that counts. ------------- JESUS is The Way the Truth and The Life! |

guys i have to say i do care who does my hair, BUT i don't care what race they are. i have been to all types of hair dressers and what i found is that it is a big chance you take. i have had some really bad experiences but good ones too. one i went to told me i needed a trim, i explained to her the ends of my hair looks dry but it just needed conditioning. i had shoulder length hair an d she kept saying you don't have split ends though. after pushing i caved and said just a trim. well i left with hair up to my ears... and smoke was coming from my ears. and she was black! i tried another salon where the woman was caucasion and she was washing my hair and she was trying to get the tangles out. i had to stop her from combing. she was pulling out and breaking my hair off wet. another hair dresser had to tell her. you can't do that! so i guess it is who you get. and when you find someone stick to them.
i had a really great hairdresser that cared about my hair but i moved. now i live in an area where a black salon is 2 hrs away. and i fear the other salons here because the woman are only used to blondes and brunettes.

lol , i can only imagine the face on the white woman who was tryna comb yur hair!! she was prolly all frustrated cuz our hair isnt that easy 2 get thru when it is wet.
but anywayz, glad 2 hear u are taking yur hair in2 yur own hands with hte help of this site

I wouldn't too much have a problem with whoever does my hair as long as they know what they are doing and don't have any premeditations of jacking my hair up (LOL) ------------- beauty is in the eye of the beholder;make sure that your vision of it doesn't blind anyone elses! |

No, it does not matter to me. Once the person is knowledgeable, and shows an interest in the health of my hair, and have a good attitude. Then, that is all I ask. ------------- |
