This was actually discussed a long time ago on here. Some people were having luck using RIT dye.I however tried it on a blond synth wig i have and it didnt catch any of the color.I tried with and without salt.Couldnt hurt to try though since  its pretty cheap stuff.

As far as the shine goes,it usually dulls down with time. But if your like me and have no patience, you can mist it with water and then sprinkle it with baby powder. This has worked really well for me.

i think the RIT was used on human hair.  i don't think there's anyway to color synth because it's basically plastic, which is a non-porous material.

A dye suited for nylon might work on synth hair.. Rit is an all purpose dye so I'm not surprised that it didn't work well on synth hair..

Yes Rit can be used on LOTS of fibers, but it is an all purpose dye which means it is meant to be all things to all people so to speak.. But in the world of fabric dying there are very specific dyes for protein fibers, and specific dyes for nylon, cottons, etc.. I would suggest trying a dye specifc to the fiber you are attempting to color.

Your right it makes more sense to use the nylon specific dye.I personally used it cause its easy to get and cheap(just like me).
