Hello Ladies, I decided to take somewhat of break from the forum, but now I'm back.  I'm starting to notice that I am gaining a lot of length from transitioning.. but I have noticed my hair is reacting differently from not washing every 3-5 days.  If I don't keep my hair clean, my hair sheds like crazy every 4 days or so.  Is there any explanation to this?  Is the natural hair not moisturized enough, and if so, how do you know if it is moisturized?

Welcome back! I was wondering what happened. Well, are you sure your hair is shedding? I'm guessing it might be breakage because of the demarcation line, where the 2 textures meet, the hair  that has been chemically altered my weaken and break off. Don't worry...it will be ok.  In my opinion, this is just mine, if you are putting in a moisturizer in your hair then you have moisturized it. YOu can try experiementing with  different moisturizers. Or you could put your regular moisturizer on your hair more frequently.

.. When that happens, every 3-4 days, yes it is shedding.  Long strands of hair in the comb, and my hair is really short, so it's quite easy to tell the difference.  It's not breakage at all.  I notice the breakage.  Normally, before the 3-4 days I don't get any hair in the comb, and thereafter, it's comming out.  I use a creme headress .. and oil to seal.  I also have KeraCare Oil Moisturizer, but I'm not too thrilled about it because I find it's hard to distribute without using a lot.  Once I run out of the stuff I'm using now, I'm going to try and finish that bottle KeraCare.  I love KeraCare so that is a disappointment.

A friend of mine is transitioning, she has about equal parts of relaxed and natural hair.  I told her to try Nutrine Garlic shampoo and conditioner.  It did wonders for her.  If you decide to use this, please be sure to follow the conditioner with a moisturizing conditioner.  It stopped her shedding immediately.

u might need more moisture. You can alternate between co-washing and doing your regular shampoo.
