I have hair thats nice and curly when i step out of the shower but by the time the commute to work is over it's a frizzy little fro. It's weird, like it's curly in the back but so frizzy in the front that it's almost strait. I think this is from years of my mama pressing it with a straitening comb. Anyway I've tried braiding while wet so that the impression drys into my hair but again it never stays all day. I've thought of using setting lotion to hold it but I don't want to damage it as I've been trying to grow my hair out and take better care of it. Any suggestions? ------------- Rejan Robinson |

From what I have read on other site moisture=curls...you might want to do some deep conditioning (Kenra MC, VO5moisture milks, Miss Keys 10en1)to put moisture back into that strands also pre-poo with shea butter. I am going to buy some this weekend but I have heard good things about Aveda anti-humectant pomade which is suppose to keep the hair from getting frizzy. Frizzy hair I believe occurs (correct me if i am wrong) because dry hair is absorbing moisture from the air because it it moisture deficient so if you up your moisture you should notice a difference. | I am noticing the same problem with my natural hair. Instead of reverting to curly, it balls into an afro on one part of my head, the crown. I use Kenra now, and I must say, it is lovely. And it smells wonderful. I try to put more product on the one part of my head but then it's a greasy afro. Any news of how much the Aveda Anti-Humectant is. |

It cost $18 and it has an okay smell to it...it's a pomade but it's not heavy. And it did help me with my frizzies when I thermally straightened my hair. You hair could be in need of moisture. Also, you shouldn't rub your hair
with the towel...that can cause frizz. You may want to try using a curl
definer...like Dove molding cream.Or try scrunching in a little gel.

ITA w/ Blackhoney, you are so right about curls needing moisture. Try doing a honey rinse. Honey is a natural humectant and it is very moisturizing. I do them all the time and my curls behave very well. Just put a spoonful of honey into a cup of water and stir. Pour it through your hair as your final rinse and do not rinse out. It really does work. Also a leave-in conditioner should help a lot w/ frizz and curl definition. ------------- |
