well, im a 16 yearold male and i have naturally curly hair, but i cannot stand it short, so i have let it grow out for a while (a long while haha).

well, i don't really know anything about hair, but i want it to be less "bushy" and more thin instead, but i want it just as long, since i want to eventaully grow it to just above shoulder length and i don't really want a gigantic curly afro. I don't really know how to tell this to a stylist ( i was told to go to one instead of just the normal hair cut place, hopefully that's the right choice), and my mom said something about getting it layered or textured, but again, i've never had long hair before and so i've never had to deal with this. I just want some advice on how to get it long

and also, what products can you use to help make really defined curls with NO frizz, which I can't stand

you can always just blow dry it or iron it every morning to keep it straight
i mean it is a pain to do it, but at least you have the option of getting it curly when you want it.

you can go to the salon and get a good heat protecting product and hair serum to protect hair and reduce frizz

Wella makes really great products, try it
