Hi,
I'm naturally a medium blonde and on Saturday I dyed my hair with a semi-permanent (though might be demi-permanent- 6-8 weeks) dye, which is a warm brown. It is a nice colour, but I miss my blonde hair so much; it may sound ridiculous but I feel like I've lost a part of me!
I must have washed my hair about 25 times since Saturday and the colour does seem to have faded a little bit, but I fear that the colour will act as a permanent one since I was fair haired to begin with, am I right? I don't want to bleach the hair because it's in very good condition and I don't want to risk ruining it. I've tried looking for "colorfix" but it doesn't look like it's sold in the UK unfortunately. Do you think I should dye over this colour with a shade of blonde close to my original colour, or does it risk going orange or something if I do this?
Here's a pic just to show the colour it is now:
 I know it's a lot easier to see a professional, but I really don't have the funds to do that at the moment! If anyone has any advice I'd be very grateful.

Read Claude's sticky at the top of the Hair Color forum. It is full of very good info.
"Color can't lift color," so therefore simply coloring a lighter shade will not work. You would have to remove the color or use bleach in order to go lighter. Do you suppose some highlights would make you feel a little blonder and, therefore, more "you"? Good luck! |

But that is so beautiful! I know how you feel though.....I've always been some shade of blonde. Kudos for the courage!
No, color does not lift color. If you use a bleach (sometimes called lightener) I would suggest an ash color to 'cool' it off and stay away from achieving the strawberry blonde shades. Also, stay away from the Over The Counter stuff and go to a Beauty Supply for professional products. And don't worry about bleach damaging your hair. If you use it right and don't over bleach (leave it on too long) your hair will be fine.
As always.....STRAND TEST first with the minimum processing time recommended on the directions!!! -------------

Thank you so much for the replies.  To be honest when I think about it I'm probably just feeling a bit out of my blonde comfort zone so I'm finding the colour a bit difficult to adapt to. I'll just leave it for the time being.

Yay, my natural colour seems to have re-emerged today after another 6 washes. I feel so much more attractive blonde, so pleased it's back. |

| i THOUGHT THE COLOR WAS SIMPLY GORGEOUS! DISHWASHING LIQUID TENDS TO WASH IT OUT FASTER THEN REGULAR SHAMPOO THOUGH,INCASE YOU HAVE THIS PROBLEM AGAIN. ALSO,JOHN FRIEDA'S BLONDE SHAMPOO COLLECTION WILL ALSO LIGHTEN YOUR HAIR BACK MUCH FASTER TOO. I'VE HAD TO USE IT ALOT BECAUSE I WENT TO DARK BEFORE. |

| A good shampoo to use is any chelating (or stripping shampoo). Try anything marketed toward swimmers (to get rid of chlorine). |
