You could try braiding your hair when it is almost dry but still damp. Leave it in braids until dry then let loose and finger comb to retain waves. The larger the braids, the looser the waves.

thanks pkj049, i'll try the braiding thing, but to me her style looks like the work of a blow dryer + curling iron/curlers...but i'm hardly a pro, so what do i know? lol
anyone else?

Well, if you want to blowdry, trying using a low-heat or cool setting with a diffuser in order to not disrupt the natural waves too much and finger srunch. Also use a product that is softer in the hair like a mousse (non-alcoholic) instead of a gel. In that way, you will have the movement you desire. Afterwards, you can style your bangs with a roll brush or (eke) curling iron (on a low heat setting--to spare your hair).
Actually, the braid idea is way better. You know you can have a self-spa day with your hair drying and do a pedicure while you wait. Oh, the luxary of it all!! Sounds like such a good idea--I may do it tomorrow.
Oh, yeah, you can just call me PJ for short. Hope you get your look.
