I asked my beautician to lighten up the color a little more. My natural is a dirty blonde. She put what appeared to be more low lights and the highlights she did put in, she put some type of toner on it (purple) and the overall appearance is a sort of grayish color.

I had it done yesterday. Don't want to offend her and go back, besides I cannot take more time off work, and to get an appointment takes weeks.

I used the blonde shampoo today, but it did not noticeably wash any of the toner out.

I really just want the toner to wash out, but I do not want the low-lights to become orange like they do towards the end of my color, so I am perplexed as to what to do.

Any suggestions on what might make that toner fade faster?

Thanks for your help.

I guess I should sign this "chicken", (smile). However, she really is a good hairdressor and I love the cut. I have complained to another in the past and it wasn't taken well, just don't want to take the chance of offending this beautician.

im a stylist. i hope that she wouldn't b offended, as long as your coming back that says something... im sure she would love to fix it for you.. the one thing you could do would b to use a purifing shampoo for a few days.. good luck..

Thank you. I actually did call her and told her that I loved the cut but thought the color was a bit too dark. She did not offer anything, just said she was "sorry abut that". I then asked if there was something that could take the toner off and she suggested the same, clarifying shampoo. I have used it, it is still pretty dark, so I purchased a highlight kit and will just pull up a few strands myself, around my face.

Again, thank you for your reply.

Hair usually gets that gray cast because the toner was left on too long. That happens to my hair sometimes, but it washes out rather quickly (for me). Toners usually only last about 2 or 3 weeks anyway ...

That was odd. That hairdresser of yours should have asked if there was something she could do for you. I think that's wrong; we pay a lot of money for these services. Anyway, I hope your highlight kit worked out. I find that you just have to be very very detailed in telling the colorist what you want. Color is really so subjective.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.

You know, I just added the highlighting ingrediants to a few strands on to and around my face and it turned out great!
