I did a girls hair and she just sms me and said they are slipping.

Now she didn't wash her hair with a clariflying shampoo as I asked but she protested that she didn't put any conditioner near her roots at all when I went to install. So its been almost a week and now she tells me that they are "starting to slip"

I can't work out why its slipping and what I can do to stop it. Ive never had a problem with mine slipping ever and ive had mine in nearly a year(with 4 reinstalls)

IM upset because I had a feeling it was going to happen but this girl was very very impatient (calling me 2-3 times a day while she was waiting for the hair)

so I will reinstall them for her, but can anyone give me some tips to insure they don't slip again for this install.

I stressed to her about which shampoo and conditioner she can't use and where she can't use it. But I was worried she didn't take it in, I have a feeling she uses a mostiurising shampoo and its made them slip this way.

Id appreciate any advice and help anyone can give me it will mean the world.

What type of install did she get? I have a client like that.

Hi Snuggles!
I would just tell your customer that she HAS to follow your recommendations, and if not, she's just throwing away her money and wasting time!
By the way, I am going to try protac soon, probably next month. You don't recommend using moisturizing shampoos, is that right?
What do you think of Sleep & Shine of Panthene, do you think I should not use that shampoo w/ protac ?
Do you recomment using only purifying shampoos?
Or non sulfate shampoos?
Thanks

Not every method works for all people.  Some people's hair just doesn't like certain adhesives.  If you don't have luck with this method, try putting the extensions in with anohter method.

Hey Snuggles!

As said, some methods just don't work for everyone.

Personally, when I tried Protac, it was a disaster for me.  I followed all the instructions, etc. but they just slipped right out of my hair.  My hair tends to be very fine and shiny, sometimes oily at the roots.  I blame those factors on why mine slipped out.

I am just not able to install using protac.  I now install using wefts and LG and that works like a charm for me.  However, everyone is different and what works for me may not work for the next.

Goodluck!

Mine is fine and shiny and I always use moisturizing shampoo and rich conditioner. My wefts stay put easily five weeks and I can stretch it to seven with only the ends of the wefts drooping a bit.

It may be the condition of her hair at the time of install, i recommend my clients have no product at all on there hair at install just to make sure you have a nice clean area for connection, she may have had some residue in her hair which may explain the slipping, and  clarifying shampoo as you said is best as it removes any silicone build up from products

I have fine hair and an oily scalp and my protac started to slip within a week, too.  Protac doesn't work for everyone.   There are some people here who have done everything right and had it slip out within a few days.

i have problems with my top and bottom rows slipping, the middle two are fine and stick no problem but its driving me nuts! the bottom one didn't even last a week this time but i think this maybe because i was tying it back alot, i installed two seperate pieces at the top this time instead of one long piece but now one side is slipping faster than the other lol.any suggestions of help greatly appreciated!!

karen, is your hair finer or thinner in some areas? I cant get pro-tac to last longer than 2-3 weeks on my highest crown area rows, where my hair is thinner.  While the rest stay put for 5-6 weeks.

Thanks heaps for the advice guys.

Now I have bought some LG. I think I am going to go with that. Can you tell me from experience which is the best way to use Protac and LG together

I was thinking of putting some in between the two wefts(i double each tape except for the top one) to keep them together

then I was thinking of putting some in the corners before I put the tape on, on the outside of the wefts, both sides

Then when I put the tape on, cut the tape, so on the top side it only just folds over.

Then I will put a thin line of the LG on the top side and on the bottom end maybe just some in the corners.

I'd love to hear other peoples ideas. I am reinstalling her hair tommorow afternoon.

Thanks again guys

I personally dont need anything in combination with the pro-tac. But I know some people do. I think all of your ideas are good. Some people may only need the extra hold on the ends and some people may need the extra hold on the full length of the tape. Personally, if you keep having issues with the protac slipping why not just try the LG alone and skip the pro-tac completely. Just another suggestion.(maybe just try one row of it) Although a full install of LG is a little more work to remove compared to protac.

Yeah i was thinking of just using LG alone but I thought id give it a try with the pro-tac and Lg together as my client really loves this Pro-Tac method for some reason.

And it will good experimenting to see how it holds us.

I will post some pictures of her tomorrow after i reinstall. Apart from all this mishap this clients hair came out one of my favs.

Thanks again for the help
