My sister wants a curling iron for Christmas and I was going to just make it easy and get a Connair but I decided to ask around. I heard that Helen of Try has a line of curling irons called RedHots. They are supposed to be great. Has anyone heard of them or where I can find out more?

Hi,

Yes, RedHots are good. They are made by Helen of Troy which can be found on the Net at http://www.HelenofTroyUSA.com. - http://www.HelenofTroyUSA.com. Or you can call them at the following 800 number:

1-800-480-8832. They come in three models that include the 1801 for the 3/4" barrle, the 1802 for the 1 1/2 inch barrel and the 1881 for the 1 inch barrel. The smaller and tighter the curl you want, the smaller the barrel should be.

This is a good product because it reaches professional temperatures which in many cases will be a lot hotter than a Conair that is considered stictly a "consumer" hot curler.

A word of caution: If you do buy your sister a professional temperature brand like RedHots, be sure to tell her to watch her use carefully. While the pro versions will do a great job of getting the curls really hot...thus helping the curl hold...it will also potentially burn hair faster if not handled properly.

Some hints:

Always use a good leave in conditioner before using a hot iron, always pay attention to how long the hot curling iron is in place and beware of getting it to close to the scalp which can be more prone to excess heat issues.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes & Happy Holidays. Your sister is lucky to have you buying presents for her. :-)

Thanks for the scoop on RedHots. They sound great. Do you know how much they generally cost? I have a Connair and you are right about the heat. Mine never seems to heat up enough to hold my curls.

Thx
