I would definitely recommend that you go to a color expert for what you want to accomplish. In fact, what is super hot right now is blended shades where one or two colors is then applied in darker and lighter hues so that your hair has depth and movement and the color is one-of-a-kind and designed for you. If you look good in bold colors but have blue eyes you may be a combo of cool and warm..which can happen. Usually it is best to stay within 2-3 shades of your natural color or have those shades woven into blend with your own natural color.
I would go to a colorist first for just a consultation. Ask them if you can look at their color book (most colorists have books that show the color services that they had done). Then ask if you can get a color service that you can maintain the roots so that you don`t have to go back all the time for upkeep. If you go with a woven foil type of color where many hues are blended you can usually have growth at the roots that blend well and allow you to extend the touchup periods as long as 3 months.
If you like what the colorist tells you in the consultation, go back for the full blown treatment. If not, then you can consult with others.
Best wishes, Karen
