I saw a post on the Hair Talk archive boards from a long time ago where WIlliam answered a question about a root perm, describing the process in detail... I was wondering if someone could tell me how long the regrowth has to be to do a root perm? (asking for a friend of mine who got a perm about 3 months ago and wants to stay curly but avoid damaging her hair, I didn`t know what to tell her since *my* curls don`t come out of a bottle :) )

Also one other question--how long does hair have to be to spiral perm? (for example, to perm bangs that are growing out)

Thanks for your time!
~Jennifer~
