over the last few months my hair has been falling out.  in the last week i'm loosing a handful every day.  does anyone know if this could be related to loosing your hair after pregnancy??? five years ago this october i delivered my twin babies and for months afterwards my hair fell out, as normal and as expected after a pregnancy.  now i'm loosing alot of hair again for only the second time in my life including after pregnancy.  since hair has a life span of 4 to 5 years maybe my hair is fallaing out again on schedule to the new hair growth five years ago??????

I haven't heard of hair loss due to pregnancy 5 years after birth. Have you had your thyroid checked? Also uncontrolled diabetes can lead to severe shedding.

yes, i actually did have my thyroid checked last week.  i do have an underactive thyroid, but my endocronologist said the blood work looked good (being i am on synthroid). i bought a multivitamin and i'm gonna start taking that....hope it helps!  thankyou for being so kind to reply.

p.s.  my endocronologist monitors my blood sugar...i don't have diabetes, however i can be very hypoglycemic.

Biotin is supposed to be a good vitamin for hair...and fish oil because of the omega fatty acids

Hypothyroidism will make your hair fall out. It will also make your skin very dry.

I am hypothyroid and sometimes the amount of hair I lose in the shower is amazing. Fortunately I have a lot of thick hair, so it doesn't affect the way I look!

My endocrinologist told me that it can take 8 to 10 weeks for your hair to stop falling out after your TSH is normalized with Synthroid. So you have to hang in there for a few months.

The last time my TSH fluctuated, it did take a few months for the hair loss to finally slow down.

You have to be patient and keep a watchful eye on your TSH.

Taking good multi-vitamins will also help, including Omega-3 and Evening Primrose Oil.
