Ok, Ladies....i just received 2 wefts of Amm's 22 inch Remy Gold hair today. It is truly stunning and feels like silk! But I have a dilemma I need help with! She was nice enough to ship it overnight to me so I could have it in time for my hair appt.....but she didn't have it in a dark brown. So I got # 7 ( a very pretty light golden brown). I am a level 2-3 with major red tones. I need to DEPOSIT color to this hair and was wondering if any of you could offer advice? Brands? Developer level? Suggestions to keep it from fading?

PLEASE HELP! I can't afford to mess up!

Ok-- I am still stressing over this. I have to do it tomorrow! I have beed reading for hours now on the subject and am thinking I should use a filler beforehand to ensure an even color application? If the hair has been bleached, then would I only want to use a demi permanent so no further damage is done to the hair? Or would a permanent color with 15-20 vol. give it more holding power? If this hair turns back to light golden brown, I am going to look ridiculous! Maybe if I color it before install...then 2-3 weeks after...color it again to ensure the color "grabs" better? HELP Please!

I've seen GL put the hair in first and colored everything after the install on a customer once. It looked good, but that's all I can tell you. I don't know if that was the right thing to do or not, but good luck to you. I'm sure you'll work it out and look great!

If you only can go to sally's, try clairol color radiance it's a gloss kind of color. I think it's in a round blueish bottle. and you need their special developer to go with it.  Or you can try clairol's Second Nature. That is deposit only color. I think you can use 10 vol developer with it.  These are both nice colors to use for going darker.
I just saw you are from Belgium.. so Sally's may not be of help
Just try to use a color that only deposits color.  Because you don't need it to lighten, just darken. Good luck

When I dyed my hair and my extension hair from Blonde to Brown. I did it while it was in my head.  I used a semipermanent color and when it started to fade just colored it again. I did not use a filler.

I just got done another coloring adventure.  Go to Sally's, they are easy and inexpensive.  I always get the Ion brand color.  It is ALWAYS gentle on my hair and my extension hair.  I would get 1-2 bottles of the Liquid color.  The creme is nice, but thick.  The liquid for me goes a lot further.  I use a #3 red copper and LOVE it!  Get yourself a bottle of the Ion sensative scalp developer #20.  You will want to cut this 50/50 with water to bring it down to a #10 developer.  Since you are only adding(depositing) color you only need a 10.  You will need a color bottle too.  Add 1 bottle of color(2oz),  1oz of developer and 1 oz of water and you are in business.  Read the directions for how long to leave it on there, I think it 25-35 min for deposit only.

You prolly don't need a filler.  I don't use them on my extension hair.  I never have a problem with this color brand either.  You prolly do want to get a conditioning/repairing treatment.  I use Ion again, just the little packet they sell at the register...

Good luck, don't panic!!  It's easy....

Thanks, ladies...for all the advice! I truly appreciate it! Just an update on how it turned out: I colored this #7 hair to a level #3 successfully! I used the Ion color from Sally's. I actually blended 3 different colors to get the perfect match...only after doing about 6 different color combos and realizing I needed to add a bit of neutral brown to keep the hair from grabbing so much RED. I used equal red brown copper, a red brown violet, and 1/4 part neutral brown. With that, I mixed a neutral protein filler to ensure even coverage and a 10 volume developer for deposit only. Processed 30 minutes. The color is right on-- a rich brown with a hint of red. I have washed it twice now and it has faded down just a bit. I hope it doesnt eventually all fade out too soon!

This hair is nice and thick... took color well...the only issue I am having is a bit of tangling on the underside. I am wearing my hair VERY long this time...almost to the bottom of my back...so not sure if tangling just comes with the territory at this length? It isn't horrible....but more than I have experienced before. I brush it about 4-5 times daily so it doesn't have a chance to get too bad. Do you think this has anything to do with the color I applied? I colored the Wagman hair before ( lifted it 2 levels with 20 volume color only in one step.) and it didn't tangle A BIT. I was under the understanding that this Remy Gold is from Wagman too....so I'm puzzled here. I am not freaking out about it at this point....but have only had it in for a week. I just hope this doesn't mean that in 2-3 weeks, it will be a big tangle factory from hell! Anyone have an opinion here? Thanks!

I think the darker reds/browns do tend to fade a bit at first.  They mellow a bit on me too.  You may want to invest in pureology.  Not only are they great for extension hair, but they are gentle on your color too.  The Hydrate line I swear by, and the conditioner is far and away the BEST product ever!

wow...I keep hearing that about Pureology. I will have to try it! I keep trying other things and always end up going back to my tried and true Kerasilk conditioner. It is truly awesome. I use the Abba sulfate-free shampoo. Smells minty fresh! I think the only thing I HAVENT tried is Pureology.

Sometimes at the salon you can find smaller bottles of it for about $5.  It's a nice way to try the formulas they have with out shelling out almost $50 bucks for shampoo & conditioner.  It isn't cheap, but worth every penny!!
