I received the thermofiber today from s*******s and have put in several wefts.  I bought three colors, 613 (platinum), 9 (dark ash brown) and the blonde mix(Not the strawberrry blonde one).  I love the texture, and it is unbelievable how much like human hair it is.  It is like Russian that a friend of mine has in. The blonde color mix that I got is too reddish/orange, so I am going to use the other colors and the mix chart on their website to bring it down some.  This blend is way to red for me (I am more neutral/beigy blonge).  The instuctions for curling were missing but I know they are good for it and will probably email them to me unless someone on here could help me out.  I'm telling you, if this stuff holds up as good as it came in this is the ticket to the big one! We'll see, let you know. Any other feedback on Thermofiber?

I ordered a couple of days ago & am just waiting to get it!
I will post when it finally gets here. I ordered the #9 since my
color (#5 or #6) wasn't available.

It's (#9) a beautiful color but too dark for me.  I wonder how this compares with the plastikhaar, it offers alot more of the blonde/sandy colors.  Do you know how to curl it?

Posted By: hflsales
Date Posted: September 21 2006 at 10:17pm
I don't know how to curl it but I just read on the site that curling instructions should have come with your order. I would email them if you didn't get them. I'm hoping to have mine tomorrow since I live in CA also. How long did it take to get yours? Mine was shipped on the 19th.

Posted By: nomorebaldie
Date Posted: September 21 2006 at 10:22pm
I just went ahead and paid the extra $4.00 and got mine overnight.  I did email them already late this pm and asked for the instructions.  I love love love the texture, I used some Redken hot set and a hot curling iron just to test if I could get the curl in and it barely took any so I know this isn't the way, but if I can get a little bounce in this stuff like they say-I'm in love!  I wonder weight wise if it is lighter than real hair?   I made a few tips too and put a few low lights in.  It glues and shrinks just like real hair.

Posted By: hflsales
Date Posted: September 21 2006 at 10:26pm

Oh, I can't wait to get mine!! I hope you get your instructions. If you don't, let me know & I can scan mine (if I get them in my order) for you.

If I like this hair, I am going to purchase a bunch of it since it is so much less expensive than human hair.

That is so kind of you, can you imagine not having to curl your hair for days?  It looks so healthy.  How are you going to put yours in?  I was thinking about doing the technique that is on the LG site, you know where you glue it in and then cut off the weft?  I've done this with some other small wefts that I made up myself and sealed them up with some clear nail polish and then I could remove them and use them over again.  But as cheap as this stuff is....You are going to croak when you feel it.

Posted By: hflsales
Date Posted: September 21 2006 at 10:46pm
I haven't seen the LG site but I will check it out.

I will use the Pro-tac tape on wefts on the back of my head & then use the linkies on the sides. Right now I have the Bohyme hair on & I LOVE it but it is so expensive! I don't curl it because I am afraid of frying the ends but the thermofiber hair you can curl once a week so I will be doing that.

DivineDiva a few posts down is showing a plastichaar install.  Have you seen the beautiful blonde girl in the magazines for Pantene hair products?  I'ts barely shoulder length and has huge barrell curls?  That's the look I'm after.  But right now I'm looking more like Wilma or something.  Any help here guys on a cut or style or placement etc., Poor ole baldie can use some consulting over here.

Yes, I saw her Plastichaar install & it looks great!! I've never tried the Plastichaar because I can't figure out the colors but I am tempted to purchase their color ring. I haven't seen the Pantene girl.

Terribly sorry for the oversight. I just sent them to your email.

When using a curling iron, thermofiber curls when damp so be sure the hair has been moistened with clean water. Any other questions, please feel free to contact me directly by email.

Sorry I don't know about WAWA but I think someone addressed it just a few posts ago in another thread.,  I can't figure out if this stuff is so perfect -heck even better than real hair-why it is not more popular.  I'm thinking it has to be because it is so cheap and there is not nearly as much money to be made off of it.  I guess it's like cubic zirconia's-no one knows but the wearer but I sure as heck would'nt wear one instead of my carats!

Also Shrinkies emailed the instructions for curling first thing this morning, I just wanted to tell everyone how good their customer service is.  They have always heads and shoulders above in that area for me.  That means alot.

Hi HF:

I am so glad the color is a good one for you.  I am really liking mine so far.  I washed it today, and blew it dry.  It has alot of body left to it.  I haven't quite gotten the hang of curling it yet.  I think I may need a smaller iron.  Mine is a large barrell.  When are you putting yours in?  How many links do you put on the side?  or I should ask how many rows and where?  I was trying to figure out some way to anchor the wefts in using shrinkies, or extend-tubes.  What if I sew in the tubes every inch or so and then load them backwards and fuse them?  I might try to experiment for some type of cleaner bond.  This stuff makes my hair look fuzzy and thin and sick. I think I am going to look like cousin IT before I finish with this stuff.

Posted By: hflsales
Date Posted: September 23 2006 at 1:03am
Yes, I think you need a smaller iron and make sure the hair is real damp. Then after you take the curling iron off, don't move the curl until it is cool. After it cools off, it should be set.

I just installed the bohyme hair 1 1/2 weeks ago with the protac so whenever these fall out, I will install the thermofiber. I don't know how many links I will use yet. I am going by trial & error. I just don't feel comfortable about putting the protac on the sides of my head. I currently have the protac wefts down the back of my head & then use the clip ins for the sides. Next I will use the silicon lined linkies for the sides.

I was reading about the method with the LG & cutting the wefts off that you told me about & it sounds really tempting to try that too. Let me know if you do it & how it turns out. I wish the tutorial had pictures.

for the girls who have received their elite thermofiber...how does the tangling compare to that of PH?? PH is gorgeous and i WANT to love it, but i'm finding that it gets soooo tangled if i don't brush it constantly.

Posted By: nomorebaldie
Date Posted: September 23 2006 at 12:50pm

Hi Leila:

It's probably too soon to tell, and I cut mine to about a 12" length so I almost never have any problems with tangling anyway.  HF looks like hers is alot longer than mine so she'll give the scoop I'm sure.  I woke up this am and my hair looked so sexy just getting out of the bed.  I just wish there was a ready made medium  non- gold blonde to get my hands on.

HF:  I did do a two inch piece with the weft cut off like the LG tutorial.  I cut the weft off first though, then sealed with clear nail polish then applied it so I could reuse. it.  It is flat flat flat and I put it on the side of my nogin so I could keep a close eye on it.  Can you imagine this stuff if we had it in no weft?  I hope it ends up being what we are building it up to be!!!  HF You know you aren't gonna wait until those pro-tac stips fall out, go ahead and do it today on a Saturday so you aren't up all night on Monday when you can't stand it any longer.  :)

I tested some of this thermo.  I've had it in for over a week and no tangling at all, in my opinion its better than human! x

Hi Kristie:

Actually Thermofiber is a patent product I believe, (you can actually google Thermofiber) but Elite Thermo is Shrinkie's product.  They have had the manufacturer blend the colors for them specifically, etc to try and come up with a  superior product.  I ordered mine from Shrinkies, but I am going to look at some other sources for more blonde colors.  Shrinkies does rock with customer service.

Hi Neck-ed (I'm in the south that's how we pronounce it down here)

I love this hair.  I have washed it every night since it's been in and for me it holds the body wave.  I wouldn't say curl, but then again I use a medium size iron on it.   It definitely is not stick straight though.  It feels like real hair to me even when it is wet.  I doubled over the weft to get a thicker feel though.  I just wish there was some other way to get a good snug way on keeping it on other than the glue.  I don't like the pro-tac, I can't keep it in more than a few days.  I still might try to attach a weft with rings or some other conconction.  Too bad we can't come up with some way to fuse the weft on.  I don't think you will be disappointed in the hair if you can find a good color match.

Great, thank you so much, I think I am going to buy it! It's worth a shot! I am worried about the color match because usually I just dye anything to match!

I'm surprised about the pro-tacs, they stay in so well for me! I wonder if you could try using fusion pellets and putting the weft on like that. Never seen it done, but glue like that freaks me out!

member_profile.asp?PF=20017&FID=34 - gsmilie : i'm in austin, tx.  i've been dying to have individuals to try out myself and to apply them to someone, but all my pals just can't understand that supplies will cost more than $20 *sigh* and aren't wanting to invest.  nor do any of them have the patience to do anything for longer than 30min when it comes to hair.  meanwhile i dye and cut their hair for free.

member_profile.asp?PF=18766&FID=34 - Amanda8Beechwoo : so what kind of dye works on thermo?  i remember reading something about fabric dyes, but i can't recall exactly how that worked out...

Amanda I had to use a curling straight iron while the hair was damp to get the curl to do anything too, but with that hot iron it took the curl and held it great.  You all can say what you want but I for one think this stuff is fantastic.  It stays bouncy and can be treated like human hair, actually you don't have to baby it as much.  My only problem is getting the color just right, but by the time we highlight and lowlight our hair it is a bunch of different colors anyway so a perfect match probably couldn't be had. Just complaining about something I guess.I do fold the wefts over to get a better thickness. I just use lg and i am one lookin good mama!  This is my second week in and I have not one complaint.  Anyone need #9?  Dark ashe brown, but way too dark for me even for low lights.  Anyone blending it?

note to nomorebaldie - I've sewn micro rings onto wefts for several installs now.  Just search for posts by "grandma" to get my tips and opinions if you want more info.

I received my supply of thermofiber (elite) from amm a few days ago, but haven't installed yet.  I also got my new order of my usual Gold Bohyme the same day.  Took both types of hair out of their packages and honestly, I can't feel any difference between the synth and human!  Didn't know which elite to order so got #5 and combo #5/9.  Although I love the blend of 5/9, #5 better matches my own so will use that.  I've washed the weft of elite and was very pleased, no tangles, behaves like hh when combing it.  Curling . . . my pro 1-1/2" barrel made just a slight body wave.    All I want is a nice body curl anyway, so think I will be okay with this.  Just need to practice more - once it's on my head!  Seems it will take more time to curl than my usual throw in a set of hot curlers BUT if the body lasts for days - then well worth it!!!

Color note: the Elite #5 is slightly darker than the Bohyme #3 that I have been getting, very rich dark brown with no highlights.  I'll do my install later this week and take pics if it looks good LOL  I hope this hair does well - for the price I won't feel bad when I cut/layer it like I do when I cut any of my Bohyme Cry

(south)
I'm well into the end of my second week and I really do like this hair.  I have noticed it being a little stiff at the ends on my neck so I went to Beauty Brands and bought some nice shampoo for curly hair, conditioner, and it seems to have brought it back to it's soft, newly purchased state.  I have had no tangling either, and I wash it daily.  I'm like you, for this price who cares if you have to throw it out after a few installs.  I did try the micro-ring technique in your thread but I just cant seem to get it close enough to the scalp.  I'm a bit afraid of those rings anyway, I've had alot of damage from a previous install with them.  Wish you were here to help me out.   Keep you posted, love granpa

You were right.

I did it with fabric dye at various percentages, heat and color using #613. It doesn't fall out or bleed. It can be done but color control is way tricky.

I would like to hear how it holds up.  My experience with all the other thermos is that it becomes unbelievably frizzy on the ends and you can't repair it.

Hopefully this stuff will not to that!

I second the color dillema of the 10/16/27 blend. I bought two packs and put it all in yesterday, and colored my own hair as close as I could get it (even with highlights) and it just doesn't blend. I really, really wanted to like it because it's so much cheaper and lower maintenence...but I just can't wear it. It's too obvious. My unobservant boyfriend even noticed, *wince*.

Someone needs to invest dyable thermofiber, next. On the plus side, the texture and feel were great. WAY better than WaWa, and it feels real!

Sorry - I posted somewhere else but better put here, I used AMM's Elite Thermofibre 18" in color #5 and blend #5/9.  I used 4 rows in the pic above with 3 wefts per row.  Each row had 2 of the #5 and one of the blended 5/9.  Next time I'll get a brown with red blend to better match my own.  I didn't like the SIZZLE method using the hot curling iron to curl it as I worried about my own getting all that heat.  I had seen Sherrie's post on how she had used hot curlers and that worked very well for me.  The curl is softer, easier for me to manage during the day and lasts until the next wash.  There is still some body left after the next shampoo, but I prefer to recurl.  My synth ends tend to get dry into the 3rd day between shampoos, but behave again when I rewash. Just wish could get longer lengths of wefts!!!

Oh, I'll bet we all have this problem - so many hair extension supplies in our midst!  I know now I'll only ever use the new Elite Thermofiber and my usual Bohyme Gold, so decided after this install to clean thru and throw out any other stuff!  Just thought I'd share the moment with you . . . Clean%20up%20the%20inventory mailto:%3cimg%20src=">

Well I can't wait to use this stuff.  I'm installing my first client with it on Tuesday and then my second on Wednesday he he I'll post pictures.  I'm just so gutted I couldn't do my own but I'm sure Amm will get more colours in eventually when the supplier gives out to her demands lol x

I tried out the Elite Thermo and really liked it. It was my firt time using Synth.
Due to my own fault it did not last but two weeks- but I had roughly brushed it once when it was wet- and it kinda snapped some of the ends. They never recovered- being as it is fiber and once damaged it does not have any ability ot be moisturized or repaired.
But if I had not done that, I think it would have lasted much longer. It was blatenet mistreatment on my part- I know better. Shame on me.Pinch
The colors are gorgeous and it felt, for the most part, just like Human hair. And once you get the knack of culing it, it is super to have the curls last so well for so long.
