While perusing the drugstore`s hair color aisle, I came across several boxes of bleaching kits.
Among these were Clairol`s Born Blone, Maxi Blonde and Ultra Blue...but when I examined the boxes, they all sounded like they did the exact same thing!
Is there really a difference (besides the price) in these kits?
I`m assuming they are used for different hair scenarios, but what are they?
Thanks!
Stephanie

Stephanie,
I hope you are not thinking of bleaching at home. I used the maxi-blonde on my teenage boys this summer and it turned their hair yellow!! All of them. I am talking banana yellow too. I also tried an at home highlight kit, and it turned my hair white!! The bleaching should be done by a professional. The results vary a lot, especially if your hair has already been chemically treated. Sorry to be so negative, but I have had nothing but bad luck with any at home colors.

I`ve always had fairly good luck with Born Blonde...as long as I used a violet based toner afterwards. The first time I used it, I didnt know about it, so my hair wound up Push-Pop orange :) Good thing I was still in my "rebellious teenager" stage...no one thought much of it.
I usually go to the salon if there is still dye on my hair, but it`s been a while, and I`m ready for new color! I just saw all these different types and was wondering WHAT IN THE HECK! I tried the Clairol websote, but coudltn find any of the information I was looking for.
Thanks for your advice though!
Happy New Year :)
Stephanie

Hi, I`m sure that you`ve already frosted by now, but I will tell you, I`ve tried them all. I have done my own hair for years now. I`ve had some disasters mind you, but for the most part, it`s been good. I`ve found the best frosting kit out there is L`Oreals Frost and Design. It has a toner with it. Just don`t use the entire contents of the toner. It has always worked well for me. I`ve recently tried the L`Oreal Chunk Kit, because I have relativley short hair. It`s ok too. But it has no toner with it. Any of the over the counter bleaching kits that I`ve tried that doesn`t have a cap and doesn`t require you to use one, have all turned my hair sunbright orange. Don`t recommend them........Good luck......Meg
