First of all, I`m not a hairstylist or any type of expert whatsoever. I`m just a person who holds a lot of interest in hair-related topics!
I do own a cosmetology textbook, however, and I was comparing your picture with the different facial shapes in it. It`s a little bit more difficult to tell with your face because your forehead is covered up.
I`d say a few things are certain, however. Your face does not appear to me to be oval, oblong, or pear-shaped. Here`s how the Milady textbook describes square:
"Straight hairline and square jawline; wide face."
However, there is another shape that might describe it as well. For a diamond face, Milady says,
"Narrow forehead, extreme width through the cheekbones, and narrow chin."
Without seeing your forehead, I might call your face diamond-shaped.
As far as hairstyles, Milady suggests this for square-shaped faces:
"Aim -- to create the illusion of length; offset the square features. The problems of the square facial type are similar to the round facial type. The style should lift off the forehead and come forward at the temples and jaw, creating the illusion of narrowness and softness in the face. Asymmetrical hairstyles work well."
And, for diamond-shaped faces, it suggests:
"Aim -- to reduce the width across the cheekbone line. Increasing the fullness across the jawline and forehead while keeping the hair close to the head at the cheekbone line helps create an oval appearance. Avoid hairstyles that lift away from t he cheeks or move back from the hairline.
Hope this info gives you a little more insight!

Reply to message: viewthread.asp?forum=AMB%5FAP804060353&id=986&page=1#21.986.1 - 21.986.1 Stephanie, it looks square with a pointed chin. Maybe you could say square/heart shape face. Hope that helps also.

Reply to message: viewthread.asp?forum=AMB%5FAP804060353&id=986&page=1#21.988.1 - 21.988.1 Oh wait -- I didn`t see the photo of you without bangs when I wrote my first post -- sorry!
Now that I see you without bangs, in my personal and totally unprofessional opinion, I definitely think it fits the "square" shape more than diamond (though I hate the word "square" to describe such a lovely face as yours!)
I think that a diamond shape would be a bit narrower on each side of the mouth than yours is. The picture without bangs really does clearly show the shape, I feel.
Sorry for the oversight,
Jennifer
