Ken Paves -- a friend of our pal Karen Shelton -- was featured on GettyImages.com. I'm amazed how many stars are photographed: Jessica Simpson, Carmen Electra, Eva Longoria, Lara Flynn Boyle, Michael Michele... He's really well connected.

Lara Flynn Boyle is one of my favorites, and she generally has great-looking hair. Well, she now has bangs and they suit her very nicely. But something appears to be going on with her lips. Karen, will Ken tell you if she pumped up her lips? I hope not.

I love some of the dresses and skirts the lady celebs are wearing. I'd love to own and wear some of them. They are elegent and classy, yet informal enough for everyday wear, as well as to a party or a night out on the town.

It would be fun to go to an upscale, full service, Beverly Hills beauty salon and get an afternoon of beauty treatments!

Hey Kramer,

I apologize.  I did not see this post until now and wanted to reply to you.

The Thanksgiving Holidays is the time that I stop and go back and reread all the posts from the past three months to see if I missed anything.  I do visit HairTalk every day and read the lastest posts but sometimes I miss posts I might want to respond to.

I am currently rereading October posts.  :-)  I also have a little time to catch up with work on the HB.com site and my Hollywood and Mane Blog at DailyCeleb.com.

To answer your question.....Ken is very tight lipped about everything in general.  As are most celeb hairdressers until they have known you for a long time and you have passed their trust tests.

Ken will pretty much tell me anything about his "girls" with regard to their hair.  Sometimes he will tell me hair related scoops and will say "but so & so doesn't want that to be public knowledge so its off the record".  But when it comes to anything else that is not hair related its hard to know what he will say.

If it's not hair related usually it is totally off the record unless he specifically says I can write about it.

Would he tell me about Lara Flynn's lips?

He might if I asked but if he did, it would probably be something I couldn't repeat.  :-)  We actually have not discussed Lara Flynn's lips or anything else about her lately since he has been working a lot with other celebs and Lara Flynn has been working on films in Europe.

I will tell you that Ken and Lara Flynn go wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy back.  He absolutely adores her.  He used to tell me that he would do her hair at her house in her kitchen (a lot of celeb hairdressers go to the houses of their celeb clients) and that she would drink Diet Coke and he would drink his Starbucks soy latte.

He also told me that she has great hair and is very beautiful in person with the most gorgeous eyes.  They had lots of fun together.  I know that he really loved creating that cute ponytail hairstyle when she was dressed as the ballerina that one year on the Red Carpet.

One time about 2 years ago Ken called me on his cell phone from his car to tell me that he was following LF (which is what he calls her) to a big gala event and she was taking him as her guest.  He was thrilled because the event was going to have a lot of his celeb friends there and he loves to hang out with Lara Flynn.  He of course did her hair for the event.

Although Ken didn't tell me the details about why she went as a ballerina on the red carpet (do you remember that?) I did later find out from another very connected friend in Hollywood that she did it to poke fun at Jack Nicholson.  It was a private joke.

One thing that I have found fascinating about Hollywood is that with a little time and study you can generally figure out how everyone is connected which they are in very interesting ways.  Usually through mutual agents or entertainment attorneys or hairdressers (Ken has introduced all of his "girls" to each other and they in turn introduce their celeb friends to him).

One other thing is true, getting into the inner circle is very very very hard and once you are there the #1 mortal sin is talking to the media about anyone in the circle.  It will mean your permanent exit.  Which is what happened to Scott Barnes the celeb makeup artist who spilled secrets about Jennifer Lopez.

Everyone knows this rule so the big celeb hairdressers who has survived for years are very careful about what they will talk about and to whom.

Ken's worked a lot with Michael Michele in the past when she was on ER.  I think he still does her hair every once in awhile.

The trouble with Ken is that he is usually so booked it is hard for celebs to get to him for appointments.  At one point he was called to do Jennifer Garner's hair when she was on Alias for a Red Carpet event but even though he really wanted to do her hair, his schedule was jammed and he couldn't fit it in.  Literally this man works 24/7.  He works more than me.  Which is saying a lot.  :-)

Although he did not do Avril's hair for her wedding he did design the haistyle she ultimately wore.  Same is true when Jessica was on tour.  He couldn't go with her (he would have been gone too long) but he designed her hair and she took a hairstylist who Ken trained to do Jessica's hair on the road.  He also designed the hair for Celine Dion's show in Vegas.

The list of celebs that Ken has worked with in the past (and who still call him sometimes) is staggering.  I don't think he worked with Cynthia Nixon but he worked at one point with Sarah Jessica Parker and did Kristen Davis and Kim Cattrell from Red Carpet events.  He actually worked quite a bit with Kim towards the end of Sex And The City.

He also works with Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Christina Applegate and Marley Shelton.  Right now he is pretty booked with Eva, Jessica, Ashlee and he has been doing a lot with Brittany Murphy lately.  Recently he was in New York with Jennifer Lopez and of course she took him to the Holmes/Cruise wedding to do her hair...which looked amazing.

Long answer to a short question but hopefully lots of little special scoops.

Hope you have a great Holiday.

Wow, talk about being "worth the wait." Thanks for the response, Karen. If you quit your day job, I think you could easily find a spot on the "Entertainment Tonight" staff. And thanks for the insight on Lara Flynn. I am addicted to Diet Coke. : )

Hi Kramer,

LOL...thanks for the vote of confidence.  I actually do not envy the ET folks.  The competition is heating up (over 2,000 blogs falsely reported that Ken Paves did Katie Holmes' hair for her wedding - he personally told me that he was there to do Jennifer Lopez and not Katie).

Can you imagine trying to compete with all those PAPPs for scoops as they call them?  And here's another inside scoop....the "legitimate" celeb photogs like Dave at DailyCeleb.com (a really great guy by the way) and the guys at WireImage do NOT like the PAPPS because they give all photographers a bad name.  They actually get upset if you refer to them as PAPPS when they aren't.  :-)
