I just dyed my hair red using Wella Color Charm.  My hairdresser back home gave me the formula before I move away which consisted of mixing different red colors together. I followed the mixing instructions and using 2 parts volume 20 peroxide and 1 part color. I noticed in my roots, the red color is lighter than the rest of my hair. It looks like a stripe.

Before I dyed it myself, I went to several salons in the area hoping they could match my hair color. Unfortunately, no one here uses Wella and they never were able to color my hair the way I wanted it.

I've had Matrix, Scruples and Schwarzkopf on my hair. What can I do to fix this?

Try using equal parts color and 20. then use a similar demi color on the lighter section of hair.

Did you apply your dye to the roots or the ends first?  One thing that might help is htis, if you're going blonde, apply the bleach/color to the ends first ;leaving one inch around the scalp, and then do your roots (so the body heat doesn't lift you roots too quickly)

If you're going darker or even red I suppose, apply to your roots , then go back and do the ends of the hair.

The reason for this is porosity in the older ends means you take more color up than the roots..
