I had really nice blonde highlights & 3 months ago got lazy and had my hair dyed to a very dark brown color. I just had mine re-done last week. They were seemed ok before I left. But then I noticed my hair my breaking really bad Cry. I had to get so much length cut off the next day. Then I noticed my highlights were so ORANGE in some spots. I went back today to get a toner put in. It was dark ash blonde. Now it looks like black hair w/ med chocolate brown highlights. I'd like to get some blonde small highlights in it though.Like maybe partial. Any suggestions ? I've already spent $105.

Did you get the highlight redone last week?
If so, getting the new highlights after having the hair colored dark brown 3 months ago, caused the problems. They probably applied bleach in the foils and folded them up. There was probably not enough coverage on the highlights. In other words, the hair to be bleached was not properly covered with bleach.
Also, It is very hard to make artificially colored hair, dark brown, become blonde. To accomplish this, a strong bleach mixture must be applied, and that is bad for the hair. It probably took a long time to come up to blonde, probably under a hot dryer. I also assume the blonde closer to the scalp is a different color than the rest of the strand.
The hair can only take so much, then it breaks. Kind of a chemical hair cut.

There would be a way to do this properly, but it would take much more time, and more skill than your stylist has. Or perhaps they have the skill but did not want to take the time.

Hmm...So now that my highlights turned like a chocolate brown, what if i use that Silver Lady toner from Wella in my hair. Will that do anything ? Or do I have to get them bleached ?

The color will wash out, but I would suggest having someone use an artificial pigment remover, if you want the chocolate color gone, sooner.

Then you could try the toner, but, if you get it on hair that is already the right color, it will discolor that hair.

It would be best to remove the color(chocolate) then apply a bleach mixture to the hair that did not come up light enough. It should be done highlight by highlight making sure to not color the rest of the hair.
A good colorist takes their time and no shortcuts!!
