Subject: Pre-tipping Pointers?

Hey everyone! I finally ordered some bulk hair! Now I've never really pre-tipped, only re-tipped hair, and now I have half a pound to do in less than a week!!

I am using the keratin pellets, and I think I will finish it off with some nail glue if I have time. So any pointers from the pros to make this easier??

Anything would be helpful, I am pretty clueless on this!

TIA

What kinda hair are you using for pretipping. I have tried to do it myself but nothing works for me. I used Mega Bond.

This is the hair i ended up ordering:

I don't understand why you wouldn't be able to pre-tip any type of hair??

Well some of the hair is siliconed so it shades like crazy after you bond it, at least in my experience. I am looking for fine hair forever but I can't seem to be find anything good and pretipped Cry

It's a keratin sticks bond used with the glue gun, I bought it from some vendor in Florida, I believe.

Typically it's hard to pretip bulk hair but it's possible with a few tricks. I start by wrapping a rubberband around the top of the bundle of hair and tie it tightly together. Rubberbanding it together makes it easy to cut little strands of hair off (just under the rubberband) to pre-tip. The one problem I run into is after I've snipped about half the hair off the rubber band loosens up and I'm more likely to loose a bunch of hair on the floor. To over compensate for this, I smoother the top of the bundle in nail glue or crazy glue and let it dry. Then I'm ready to snip my pieces off to pre-tip. I've got some directions on my site for the rest of the directions:

http://www.yourhairshop.com/demomakepretippedhair.htm - http://www.yourhairshop.com/demomakepretippedhair.htm

Then, when I'm done, I use my nail glue again and coat the shoelace tip. This will make the tip nice and strong and easy to re-use for future installs.

I hope this helps, good luck.

Kristin

I cannot find that link, sorry. But maybe it was just keratin sticks and they advertised it as "Mega Bond" not meaning that it's a brand. But I do remember that order came from Florida.

Mega bond is a the name . I used to get it here. www.newconceptshairgoods.com. You need to be a professional to order from them. I lost my password but when I find it I can get more info on the prices for them. I know they were not cheap.
I haven't used this glue in awhile but from what I remember  it was very good.

Diva,

Can you tell us why you seem suspicious of Bertakroll about this mega bond thing? Personally I never tried it, but have seen it around on websites... .
Maybe you've had a bad experience or something?

It's a confusing hairworld out there

Thanks everyone, thanks Kristin! I checked out your demo, got most of the info, but I think I am going to do the glue thing also before cutting it, that's a a great idea so I don't have chunks of hair all over the place!

Thanks!!

Yep. Mega Keratin Sticks. Used to be called X10 and they've been sold at hairpiece in LA for years.

You can purchase just the Mega Sticks alone or in a complete kit.
