Yes I'm certain they can get your hair to have some blonde highlights!Thumbs%20Up
However, they will probably have to bleach it (NOT all of it,just the parts to be highlighted) Good that you are going to a pro and not trying to do it yourself though...going from black to blonde is very tricky for the person doing it at home (I have done it!)
It should be fine, dont worry.Just be sure to tell them EXACTLY how you want it,and how light you want the highlights to be. Good luck!

Well I have black hair & I had a very hard time getting it very light blonde. My new stylist was able to lift my hair to a level 8. ( 1 is black & 11 is like gwen stefani blonde ) I have to go back in 8 weeks to lighten it up slowly. You dont want to end up having to cut off all your hair.

Well Gwen Stefani Blonde may not be as blonde as she wants it. (that's more like white!)
I think the best thing to do would be have them give you reddish-lighter brown highlights first, and then graduate to the blonde highlights....Jennyc is right it CAN be hard, but it is actually different for everyone.
Just highlights is alot less risky though then doing the whole head.
