I am a 46 y/o male and I have not been getting much info after posting in the men's forum so I thought I would try here.
The hair on my temples is graying a lot more than the rest which is medium brown.
To maintain a more uniform and younger look I have tried the men's
colors you can find easily: Just for Men, Grecian Formula, etc...
I only apply the color to the temple areas and blend in the edges.
They all make my temple hair turn greenish/yellowish in a few short days
(2 to 4).
With the help of a friend I have gotten a professional product:
Redken For Men Color Camo
I use in a shade of medium ash, after experimenting with other shades.
This seems to be the best solution so far, but my hair still has this dark
reddish tone, especially in sunlight... only on the temples again which is the only colored area
Is there another product that you recommend? Or is there a different
approach?
Thanks for your help.

Sounds to me like you are using the right shade (an ASH color ,if it's the red tones you dont want since ASH counters red)
I Have read on this site a few times that the hair color for men is not very good and has metallics in it. Maybe that has something to do with it?
There is this stuff they sell at Beauty supply stores called un-red that is supposed to help get rid of red tones in hair..
If not, maybe a color depositing shampoo in brown~ Artec has some good ones and you can order it online.

Didn't Claude's sticky say a blue based ash  will cancel out the greenish cast you get when trying to lose the oranges tones or something like that.....?! That a little blue mixed in will give it a nice cool base is what I think he said....
