my hair is being so frustrating! it`s thick & naturally wavy, but wimpy waves not nice ones..it`s long layered and about an inch above my shoulder. usually i blow dry it straight and curl it under with a round brush but it always turns out so POOFY! i hate it!! do any of u know any ways to make it so it isn`t so poofy...? or else, any ways to define my waves so I don`t have to blow dry it? if u can help, i will love u forever!! ;-*

my husband might get jealous....

I think Karen would be very helpful for you. I had a perm that made my hair behave like you are describing. I would let it air dry then curl it with one of those large barrel curling brushes. Blow drying seems to make it worse.

Don`t shave your head!! {grin}

Well, given the choice, I honestly believe most women would rather have "poofy" hair rather than "flat" hair. Personally, I love what the humidity does to my natural hair!

How about if you held it back with barrettes behind the ears? This is one of my favorite looks. That way the hair wouldn`t be in your face, yet it would be nice and full in the back.

I have hair just like yours. Joico`s ICE Waxer changed my life! It will tame and smoothe your poofiness and it has a light hold to keep your hair curled under.

If you have layers around the face try curling those under and curling the bottom layers out. It looks real cute and the shape of it seems to make my hair look less BIG.

If you are looking to define your waves without blow drying, try washing your hair at night and then sleeping on it. I`m serious. While you are sleeping your hair isn`t weighing itself down. You`ll wake up nice wavy hair. Just style it with your fingers, no brush, and you`re good to go!

Another solution...

I just bought Edwin Paul Smoothing lotion (here on site) and it is great. I have similar hair (wavy, but not enough to be great so I blow it straight) Anyway, I also have very overprocessed hair and this stuff really works to smooth it. No more poof! And I live in a humid climate.
Also, after I`m done drying, I smooth on some John Frieda (frizz-ease stuff) shaping & glossing balm (grocery store) it helps too, plus it adds shine!
