I was checking the archives and came across a post where someone used conditioner before they shampooed. Has anyone else here tried this and does it work? I may try it, don`t know yet. I don`t know, it just doesn`t make sense to me.....Meg

I`ve done it before - at the time I found it nearly impossible to wash all the conditioner out of my hair - it took FOREVER. So I conditioned first and the shampoo helped wash it all out. It worked pretty well - the only thing I noticed was that there were a few more tangles than if I conditioned after shampooing. Aside from the quickness factor (it did really speed things up - I still do it when I need to shower in a hurry), I don`t think there are any other benefits, but aside from the tangles there weren`t any drawbacks that I saw.

Thanks fortytwo, I don`t think I`ll try it right now. I am trying to get my hair into good condition and it`s doing quite well so far. I was just wondering if this really worked and if there were any good benefits...thanks....Meg

Yes. I do that sometimes. I have mostly used a tiny bit of Aveda Beautifying Oil. It has a large concentration of jojoba oil. I pour a few tiny drops into the palms of my hands and then glide them down the length of my hair cuticle starting at the roots and working down to the ends.

I will even apply a little more to the ends if they are feeling crunky in any way.

In the past I have used commerical pre-shampoo conditioners with lacklusterresults. So I stick with the Aveda B. Oil. It works for me.

Why do I use it? When my hair is extra dry it gives it nice conditioning before I use shampoo. I like the end results of how my hair feels, although I do this infrequently. Some hair experts believe that you should never use oil on the hair. Some believe you should do it every once in awhile and some are undecided. So make your own decision on what your hair needs and whether you like the results or not.

As a sidenote, Jennifer Anniston Pitt uses a pre-conditioner all the time. She is famous for it.

Best wishes,
Karen
