Not necessarily.
Although long hair like she had before, or a sleek bob cut, might look better on her.

Though this is a generalization, Asians seem to look great in those shags or razored cuts. I don't know if it is there hair texture or facial features but they always look hot with that style (IMO). Would like to see Lucy try that style.

While I have not seen every photo ever taken of Lucy Liu this is perhaps the worst I have ever seen her look.

In a word, hideous.. Bad cut, worse styling.

Maybe she is growing it out?

I think that Lucy first "flipped out" when she cut her long hair short. It *had* been inching upwards for quite a while, but it wasn't *too* bad until recently. All her mystique is gone now, IMO, and she looks older.
And about that razored look which is extremely popular among Asian women, and somewhat common among Caucasians, I think it destoys the beauty of one's length, and gives what remains a straw-like appearance. I really hate it. Sorry, SHIS. I simply don't understand why anyone would choose this hack-style. Best, Bob

We can only hope she is growing it out because the style she has now is awful.

It isn't her best style, but it isn't that bad. It is actually sort of
a retro style, like you see the young women wearing in those old beach
movies. It is actually kind of cute.
There are alot of women wearing various retro styles lately, some young
women are even going back to the short perms like in the old movies.
Maybe they are trying to recapture some of the glamour of previous
eras. Or maybe they just want to try sometyhing different. Those retro
'dos aren't bad, they are just different than today's styles.

Lucy was a guest on Jay Leno's Tonight Show Tuesday night. I don't know if anyone has access to stills, but her hair looked as short as I've ever seen it. It wasn't flipped, but had a perm-like wave to it. Above the shoulders for sure. Personally, after remembering her glory days on "Ally McBeal" and even "Charlie's Angels," I hate her new look.

I can tell by reading your posts Kramer that you only like long
hairstyles on women, so I suppose you don't like it, but IMO she didn't
look bad in her new 'do. She can wear either long hair or short hair
and look good.

Rather than judge me on my taste, I recommend you see what Lucy looked like on the Tonight Show before you pass judgement on her. Did you see the show? I, too, believe she is a beautiful woman and she even has ties to my home state, so I give her bonus points for that. But her hair looked horrible last night.

I did see her, not on the Tonight Show but on Regis & Kelly earlier the same day with the same style. I thought it looked really good. About chin length, a nice sexy wave to it, almost like a ''20s starlet, and flipped out a tiny bit at the bottom. I thought it was a fun, stylish change, and a nice example of how short hair can be really sexy too if it's put together right.
I'd much prefer a style like that to long and just hanging there, like it often was on Ally.

Gotta disagree with you Kramer, Lucy looked great. The cut and style flattered her face. When I saw her on the tonight show last night, the first thing I noticed was her face, not her hiar. In this case, I feel that that the hair flatters the face, where with her long hair, the face flattered the hair.
I believe that the hair should make the woman more attractive, and in this case, Lucy succeeded (imho!)

I'll take that wink and smile as your way of flirting with me, Natasha.
As for the rest of you, be the judge:
Do you like Lucy's hair better like this? (Similar to how it looked on the Tonight Show, although it's not as wavy here or as greasy looking as it was on the Tonight Show.)
http://editorial.gettyimages.com/source/search/details_pop.aspx?iid=72345725&cdi=0 - http://editorial.gettyimages.com/source/search/details_pop.aspx?iid=72345725&cdi=0
Or this style? (Note that someone else wrote "the best of Lucy Liu" here; not me.)

I'm predicting those that typically like short hair (most of you, I reckon) will go with the former; those that like long hair will go with the ladder. But I had to ask just the same.

Actually alot of Asian women wear short bob hairstyles and they look good in those 'dos. Maybe she should try a style like that.

I actually thought both were cute. But you have to look at it like this, the only reason the long hair looked good was because she was younger. Most women tend to go shorter when they get older, it makes them younger, then wearing it long and pulling it back in a bun like Grandma Jones.
Oh and asian women do look good with short hair, especially short and wavy/curly.(imo)

I didn't say they MUST have short hair, it just that most older women I've seen had shorter hair. Some for maintenance purpose, some for appearances. (JMO, and observation)
But no women must have any type of hair, they choose to have shorter or longer.

I can admit when I'm wrong. Lucy's cut, as styled now, looks good on her. I saw her on the "View", by accident, believe me! (lol) No, it's not as youthful or sensuous looking IMO, but if she *had* to cut it, this *is* a very nice 'do on her. Esp. complemented by the stunning dress she had on!! Blessings, Bob

Bad news folks....talked to Lucy's long term hairdresser....Robert Hallowell...last night on the phone and he told me that Lucy is liking "shorter" styles. In fact, he is responsible for cutting her hair in the first place several months ago. He also said that she "likes texture" and that her hair...is basically stick straight. He gave her a chemical volumizing treatment a few months back and she liked the resulting waves/curls.
You probably all know this already but Lucy would much rather be a full time artist than an actress and according to Robert she is "all about her art" and likes to keep her appearance changing to reflect her creative moods.
Not a good chance she will go longer and if she does...it will most likely be with extensions.

Hey Kramer,
I didn't know you were from Michigan. I definitely could benefit from some of that cool Summertime air up North. It gets very hot here in Dallas.
I am going to be speaking with Robert today. We have been trying to talk for about 3 weeks but between our two schedules the best we can do is text message at odd moments. I will tell Robert that Kramer wants Lucy to go longer. Not sure it will help but I will definitely tell him.
Robert, like Ken Paves, usually listens to their celebs and does not try to change their minds about their hair. So if Lucy is not going longer it is all Lucy and not Robert.
One of the best calls I had with Robert was when he was staying in New York with Lucy and was describing all the hair products in her bathroom. She really does use Robert's products, which was interesting to know. And as an aside Jessica (Simpson) really uses Ken Paves' products.
Last week I chatted for the 4th time with Laurent D (I love him, he is so funny and charming) and all his "girls" (Terri Hatcher, Tea Leoni, Jewel, Alyson Hannigan...etc.,) use his hair care products as well. It is nice to see that they are all loyal to their hairdressers.
I have been getting text messages from Ken (Paves) as well. He has been traveling with Jennifer Lopez for her latest movie premieres. I have some scoops to put up on HB.com but have not had time to get that finished. UGH. He sent some images and hair notes but I need to untangle my scribbling.
Robert will start working again with Courteney Cox on Dirt in about 2 weeks. He has met Jennifer Aniston a few times and told me she is very lovely in person and much more gorgeous in person than she appears onscreen. He also said her hair is really beautiful but of course she doesn't want to talk about her hair, which we all already know.
Robert also met Borat and his financee and other assorted folks through Courteney (whom he absolutely adores). Robert and Ken both work like maniacs but they get to do the coolest things. I am jealous. :-) Robert has also been working with Geena Davis & Brigid Fonda and I think he still does some things for Mary Louise Parker.
At any rate...I will put in a good word with Robert for Lucy to go longer. By the way, as yet another aside...Lucy also works with Ken sometimes. Lately Ken has been gone a lot and so Lucy has been working mainly with Robert. Lots of chair hopping in Hollywood these days. :-)

OK I talked to Robert who spent all of last week with Lucy doing a lot of press. She is going to be featured in some new Gap ads I believe and has some other work coming out.
Robert said "Lucy is so over her long hair" and likes shorter, edgier, more sophisticated styles. He said he and Lucy discussed her hair length and she does "not want to go longer than to the top of her shouders" plus she likes lots of layers and chunks with chemical texturizing. If anything, Robert believes Lucy will go even shorter.
I passed on the scoop that some of the guys here would love to see her back in Ally McBeal long locks and Robert said "it will never happen" because Lucy has moved into a new phase with her look and is "so over that McBeal character".
So sorry guys. Look for lots of new styles on Lucy. By the way, Robert created that flip for her at Lucy's request. She loved the style.

Hi SSjockey.....Lucy will definitely be spicing it up.
As far as the DailyCeleb blogs that is a weird tale.
I contacted Dave at the beginning of the blogs coming down and asked him what was up because I enjoyed the blog. I told him that if he wanted to close I would move the Hollywood & Mane to HB.com and keep on blogging. Dave told me that DailyCeleb.com had gotten so big (I can relate to that problem) that they had to relocate all their servers and get everything synced up and that the blogs would be back as soon as they had everything moved and put back together.
Unfortunately that was almost 3 weeks ago and I don't like to bug Dave. He is even busier than I am and often pulls allnighters shooting at red carpet events. He has invited me to come and hang out at some of the events and one of these days I will take him up on it when I can get to LA. So I have been trying to be patient and not bug him.
I hope he reopens the blogs really soon because I got lots of feedback from there.
I do have lots of new cool scoops but was sort of waiting for H&M but maybe I will reopen it on HB so I can share.
Thanks for your interest. It is very much appreciated.

I'd rather see a woman at least once with long hair than never. (Are you listening, Dorothy Hamill?) But, I'm extremely grateful for those ladies who *never* get "over" having tresses.
