I made a surprising product discovery that I wanted to share with ya'll.

I was thinking about purchasing a HAI or Chi flat iron as I needed something that performed a little better than my current flat iron on my extensions hair. While my current flat iron works VERY well on my own natural hair, it seems that no matter what kind of extensions hair I was wearing (Extensions Plus relaxed texture, Extensions Plus custom, Indian Hair, etc) my flat iron could never "get the job done" quite like my stylist does without a little work on my part, and as a result it would take a VERY long time to flat iron my entire head.

So I was in Extensions Plus three weeks ago with another BMH member, and we asked Sonia if their wig stylist would share with us the kind of flat iron she used when styling the wigs. My jaw dropped when she showed me the box.. The flat iron they use?? That's right the Jilbere de Paris™ Ceramic Tools™ Tourmaline Series Flat Iron available at Sally's. Although she showed us the before and after results, I did not rush right out to buy this little gem.. My mind told me that ANY flat iron that did not have fareheit temps on the temp control was not for me (AKA cheap!).

I was still not convinced that what I had been looking for was right under my nose all along.. AJ on the other hand, (the girl with me) rushed right out that day to Sally's and purchased it.. She reported back that the results were so good she was letting go of her HAI and her Chi!!! Now I know that AJ is SUPER picky about her hair products so this made this flat iron worth a second looksee for me..

Yesterday I went to Sally's and discovered that the Jilbere de Paris™ Ceramic Tools™ Tourmaline Series Flat Iron was on sale for $30 off the regular retail price ($69). Only $39 for either the 1" or 2". I decided to purchased the 2" model.

Yesterday I washed and conditioned my hair and let it air dry. Then when my hair was nearly dry, I sprayed a little Sexy Hair's Soy leave-in conditioner on my hair combed it through and let it air dry the rest of the way. When my hair was completely dry, I ran a blow dryer through just to make sure that any residual dampness was gone. Then I applied and brushed through a little Chi Silk Infusion to my hair, and heated this bad boy up..

I set the temp for one click below the highest setting.. This iron got hot VERY FAST!!! I sectioned my hair and ran the iron over the 1st section. To my surprise this flat iron straightened my hair in ONE PASS!!! I finished my whole head in about 30 minutes. Let me tell you ladies my hair was as straight as my stylist gets it in the salon with a WHOLE LOT less work!!! (AT LAST!!!!)

I wanted to pass this along to the ladies who might want a HAI, Chi or Sedu, but aren't ready to put that kind of money down on a good flat iron right now.. I will be going back to get the 1" model tonight.. (before the sale is over of course!!  ) Although, I'm not sure if I even need or want a HAI or Chi at this point.. This flat iron delivered the results I wanted.. (and it was a bargain to boot! )

BTW, Sally's now offers extended warranties on all of their hair applicances.

Sally Item #: 345100
Sizes: 1", Also available in 2" (Item #345101)

"Tourmaline is a Precious Gemstone Crystal and a natural source of negative ions and far infrared heat. Tourmaline Tools are infused with pure gemstone crystals and ceramic to naturally emit negative ions and far infrared heat at a constant rate, offering substantial benefits to the hair. Negative ions eliminate frizz and close the cuticle creating smooth, glossy shine. Tourmaline, when heated, produces a completely balanced ionic charge to eliminate all static electricity.
~ Tourmaline/Ceramic Plates distribute high heat evenly
~ Reaches temperatures up to 448' F - Instant heat - Even heat
~ Variable temperature control - 40 heat settings
~ Floating plate design guarantees 100% contact across the entire hair section
~ No gap between the plates.
~ Tourmaline offers high gemstone hardness for a smoother plate surface with decreased friction
~ Far infrared heat penetrates the hair from within, for gentler styling and healthier hair
~ Negative ions eliminate frizz and close the cuticle creating smooth, shiny hair
~ Tourmaline exhibits pyroelectricity: When heated, one yields a positive charge and one end yields a negative charge
~ Hair is left straight, smooth and shiny without any static electricity transferred
~ Mica ceramic heater provides thermal shock resistance for steady maximum temperatures
~ Fast response for no heat loss!

Usage Tips
Slowly pass the iron through the hair strand. The average number of passes it takes to straighten hair using 1" partings differs on hair type. For fine to normal hair, use 1-2 passes. For more resistant hair, use 3-4 passes. For more maximum movement, continue holding the hair at a 90' angle throughout the ironing process.

Please note that at the HIGHEST setting, I was able to get my hair straight in 1 pass on average.

That's great! I bought a iron at Sallys about a year ago and hated it. I asked for the best they had and it was about $79. It hardly worked and felt like it was ripping out my hair as I used it. I had it 6 days before it broke!! ugh. Thank goodness Sally's is a great company and they gave me my money back. I'm glad you found a good product and I'll check it out next time I'm in there. If I remember the name of the horrible one I tried I'll post that too so no one wastes their time with it ;)

Thanks Tangles.. Let me know what you think if you get one.. I am tickled PINK at this find.. I was READY to buy a HAI, Sedu, or Chi.. I never think of Sally's as a great place to get flat irons.. but at $30 off, I think most of us will find that a great deal.. Especially if they like the results as much as I do.. I've never been this excited about a hair applicance..

BTW, my friend tells me that the Jilbere Titanium iron is also a kick ass flat iron..

I have a 4" CHI that works well, but would really like a smaller iron.  Is this one of their monthly sales items?

Not sure.. I didn't know it was on sale, and I was prepared to pay WHATEVER this thing cost if it meant getting a better performing flat iron..
