Hi ladies:)
I have had the best night ever! Lol. I installed protac on Sunday morning to bone dry, unconditioned hair. I set the bonds with a hairdryer. Tonight, Tuesday night, I decided to wash it so I didn't have to get up so early in the a.m. Well, I used Neutrogena Triple Moisturizer shampoo (no conditioner yet, I was saving that for just the ends) and for some reason, all my protacs fell out! I really don't get it. Last install I had for 3 weeks I took out just to tweak a few placements, and I did everything the same, and it was holding STRONG! All I can guess is that it's the shampoo....so, here is the really fun part.... I HAD NO PROTACS LEFT TO RE-DO IT! AHHHH!
But, I did have some Liquid Gold! Which, I have never used.
I shouldn't have said that I had NO protac, I had half a strip. So, I used that for the bottom two triple wefts. Then, the rest (the whole front, and three wefts on the back) I did with Liquid Gold. I didn't have a syringe. It was messy, but fast. I cured it with a hairdryer, and I layed a curling iron on it for 20+ seconds, too. So far, I LOVE it. I like it better than protac. It doesn't show, it was just as easy for me.....but here are my questions
1. What is the downside? It seems too good to be true.
2. How do I remove it? Acetone?
3. How soon can I wash my hair with it in. Same as protac?
4. Any other LG tips?
Well, I am exausted after all this hair "fun" BUt at least I like this install even better than the last. It really is an art! Thank you so much, have a great night:)

i think its the shampoo my pro tac fell out with the tigi catwalk oatmeal and honey shampoo :((
1. its messy
2. yes or citrus remover
3. i always wait atleast 24 h before i wash my hair
4. Apply with syringe (best tipp ever got it from hairextensions101 board) ------------- im a synthetic girl and i love plastikhaar |

Oh no! I've had that happen to me too before. I was so sad. I think it might be the shampoo, I used a redken extreme moisture and it fell out. So usually my first few washes with a protac I try to use something that's not moisturizing and if i have to, I use it later on in the install...
I've actually never used LG, I love pro-tac so much, and now keep about 45 strips in my "hair drawer" just in case  But that's great you like LG, it seems great, I will have to try it sometime!

With the pro-tac Ive had almost a year of successful installs. And Ive also had a few mishaps and had a few fall out. The important thing for me...is pressing them in really good. I press them in over and over and over, and when I think Ive done that enough...I do it some more. Seriously....when I skimp on the pressing, is when I have slips...
And I do think there is something about some shampoos....possibly moisturizing shampoos and possibly mint type shampoos. Maybe something in the ingredients? But I could be offbase there. But I have had some slipping with these types of shampoos before. So...IMO not sure...but possible
Ive used LG for many installs before finding the protac. LG holds great for me, but I just find protac easier and less messy. I use acetone to remove LG. For me, the acetone works the best and quickest. Generally 24/48 hours is sufficient safe waiting time for any type of install. I highly recommend the 'sandwiching' method when using LG. It will help make them last longer.

I will put it all to good use. Yeah, I did press it down a lot because of the last time it fell out in the shower and Sherrie said to press it down a lot! Lol. I really think it was the shampoo. Mental note: don't by TIGI oatmeal shampoo....
I really love the LG, I did the sandwich method, and I placed an order last night from Sherrie for some syringes, and some extra LG and protac to keep in my "hair drawer" (Lol, I laughed at that one, it's so true!). I'm glad to hear other people have had so much success with it. I didn't even think it was that messy...but maybe I'm just used to mess because I work with kids so much! Lol:)

Hi Girls!
I have been using non sulfate shampoos since Sherrie told me about them! I have the one of her websites and other non-sulfates shampoos from organic store, maybe you should stick to that with the Protac/ LG method. I have never had any problems like that! Good luck!

I have found that if I only wash my "real" hair, or the hair that is only on the top and partially in the back, and just let the shampoo run through the extentions, I don't have any slippage. I also find that I can get my tapes to last almost 8weeks before they get to tacky and start to slip down. I very rarely get my fingers between the tapes and scrub, but I do rinse really well with clear water. After I suds up the top portion of my hair I stand under the shower head for at least 3-5 minutes and let the water run thru my hair, I also push up the length of it and squish the water against my scalp to make sure that I am rinsing all the shampoo out and any dirt or gunk that my get caught between the tapes.
I read somewhere that very rarely does your scalp get really "dirty", and that most shampoos are very harsh to both hair and scalp, but that a good rinsing and massage cleans the hair and scalp so well that shampoo is rarely needed. Now I don't know how true that is, but I do find if I stick to my method my hair doesn't dry out very much and my tapes last pretty long. (And I don't have a stinky head either
  )So to make a long story short, I'm sorry your tapes fell out, but try just washing the "non tape" hair.
Oh, and I use a combo of both tapes and LG, tapes for the majority and LG for the top row and side pieces.

I'm a LG convert as well. I think the bonds are smaller, firmer, and less prone to slippage. They don't get sticky or itch. They lie flatter on the head than Protac. Acetone takes them out in a breeze, and there is no sticky residue, unlike Protac. I don't have any problem with conditioner loosening the LG bonds either. LG is easier to repair a little spot that's lifted than Protac, where I frequently had to remove and reinstall the whole weft. One small bottle will do a whole install for me at the cost of just a few bucks.
The downside--I've gotten Protac to last 7-8 weeks when I'm lucky and the LG bonds really start to disintegrate at about 4 weeks. It is a more sticky, messy process to install. You can have yellow hair boogers which sucks if you have dark hair. (I've fixed this problem by gluing the underside of one covering weft to the very top wefts I've installed. It holds the whole package down more securely and completely hides any boogers.) The LG is smelly when you put it on and stings a little when it first touches your scalp. The residue in the LG bottle gets pretty thick and gets unusable pretty quickly (but it is so cheap, who cares? I just throw it away.) For me, the best part is with LG it literally NEVER slips. Sometimes Protac works for me pretty well, but I always have slippage during the weeks I wear it. ------------- Here's to the end of my BAD HAIR LIFE! |

Thanks for the detailed rundown of your shampoo routine! I usually use pureology which is non-sulfate, but I just got adventurous about it:). I've read conflicting things about whether to shampoo the tapes or not, but after this experience I'll definitely take your advice and NOT shampoo the tapes.

I am kind of thinking I might convert too. I haven't had any long term wear yet with the LG, but I am already liking it MUCH better. Like gsmilie, I don't mind the protac for teh bottom two rows (who cares? and, it's so fast), but the LG rows show SO Much less, which with my thin hair is *essential*. I'll see how long it lasts for me....but I like to redo my installs often, so if 4 weeks is the limits, I'm ok with that! Lol:)

I've been thinking about getting handtied next time and trying it, it would be so flat compared to the bohyme machine tied wefts I have now! Interested to see if anyone has done this......!

LG comes off really easily with pure acetone. It leaves no stickiness at all, just some little yellow boogers that comb out easily after shampooing. ------------- Here's to the end of my BAD HAIR LIFE! |

I recently used the same shampoo (Neutrogena Triple Moisture) and I also had a few of my protac rows fall out as well. I had never had this happen before- so I immeditely assumed it was the shampoo- which was new.
It is a very moisturizing shampoo- so it probably has too much oil (it does contain olive oil) in it for the protac. I will probably try it again- just because I really like the shampoo- but I will not rub it in so much. If I still have problems with the protac after that, I will discontinue using it when I am wearing protac.
I also use the LG often- I actually like wearing it slightly better than the protac, but the prtac installs are easier. So when I get lazy or have less time, I use the protac. I have always had very good luck removing protac and LG both using a remover called SUPERSOLV. I get it at http://www.hairdirect.com - www.hairdirect.com . It really works great- and does not irritate my scalp at all. I love it.
The LG requires a little more patince for removal- only because of the "hair boogers" as KristieM calls them. lol. I usually have to comb through my hair with a fine tooth comb right after taking the LG out to get out the boogies.
As for the hand tied wefts and LG-
I have done that before- but it does not always work well on its own. There is so little for the LG to bond to on the hand-tied wefts.
What I have done that works:
I take a 1/4 strip of Protac, dab a little LG on it, and adhere it to one side of the hand-tied weft (or wefts if you double weft). I then take and apply some more LG to the side of the protac that will be stuck to my hair- and I install the weft. The side that faces outward has NO protac on it, and it is nearly undetectable. You can also then put a little LG on the outward facing side of the weft and sandwich it- so it is REALLY undetectable and has even better hold.
Does this make sense?

i had one of my clients wear the pro tac for 8 weeks and no slippage- i removed with sheries orange oil remover- the acetone didnt work too well.
the oil was a breeze, any residue i just combed out ------------- Bringing beauty, one head at a time... |

TIme for an update... My love of LG has faded a little. After a week adn a half of having LG on the sides of my head in front (and one weft in back, four wefts of protac), the little LG wefts on the side of my head worked their way out, and fell out! I have taken care of it with pureology and stuff, just like the protac, but the protac is holding strong adn these fell out! Arghhhhhh, at least the one in back is holding...but I can tell it's starting to work it's way out, too. Darnit!

ohh im sorry they're coming loose already andreau, after reading your post last week i decided to look into using Liquid Gold on my highest wefts on the sides of my head......with protac i never even bother to put any wefts there because i know they will show, but with the LG i was able to put them there and they really are undetectable ( i still love protac for all the rest of my head, i dont have that much faith in the LG to keep ALL of it in!) and sarytyr: i have jetsetextensions 'slim weaving' handtied wefts, it is the absolute teeniest weft ever, and i ONLY put the LG along the very weft part on both sides to sandwich them in, its only been 6days with them in but i've shampooed 5out of the 6days and really tugged on them (testing them i think, for at least partial areas that i have trouble becoming overly visible that the LG is going to work fine, even if i had to reinstall every week or two (im hoping for at least 2weeks, i'll let you all know)
