Does anyone have any suggestions for damaged hair that doesn't "grab" color? I had bleached blonde hair and after a couple of weeks I just felt weird. I had been a redhead for years prior, that was my "trademark", I got compliments on it all the time. My true color of childhood was chesnut brown with some golden and red tones throughout. My mom was a true strawberry blonde that darkened to auburn...my great-aunt a true redhead...so it looks really natural red and I feel most comfortable there. Anyway...my Mom always bugs me to go back to brown and I caved into her wishes this summer. It looked so bleh. Then I went the opposite to bleach blonde a few weeks ago. Now I'm trying to get back to my comfort zone and added red back in. The first try it turned out a weird apricot shade, which I expected since it was bleached. I went over it again just now, using a 20 volume wella liquid developer (diluted with water to a 10 volume) and applied wella copper sun for about 25 minutes. I really like the color where it grabbed/deposited...but there are some strand chunks where it's a drab greyish non-color. It's like the hair has said "OK i have had enough!" LOL Has anyone overcome this obstacle with their own hair? -thanks in advance  |

This topic is one of the most commonly mentioned problem on this board. Search through all the posts and you will find TONS of advice dealing with this problem. Also, take a peek at the sticky at the top of this page: Claude's intro to haircolor. There is tons of advice there as well. You need to use a protein filler before coloring to give your color something to "stick" to. Your hair is very porous from bleach and your color will be uneven and fade quickly due to this. |

Yeah...the bleach has stripped the pigment away...so filler add something like hannebash said....wait and it should wash out...some folks soap cap the ends but I didn't bc I didn't want anymore damage.... ------------- Linda :) |
