Hey everyone! I've been reading posts to try to find information on my problem but I havent been able to. So I thought I'd make an account and ask myself. I am a natural strawberry blonde and whenever I dye my hair it always has red in it. The only color I dont have this problem with is black...haha obviously. Anyways, what I'm asking is, is there a type of dye or something out there that gets rid of reddish tones? I HAVE tried dyes with the ash tones in them and even those don't work. Thanks for your help in advance!

| It really depends what color you're going for.You know,most people have an underlying red tone in their hair. If you're going blonde you could always bleach it until the red is out or lighten it until the red is out. If it is brown,then choosing a deep brown that has an ash tone would be the thing to get. |

| Well, I did bleach it for awhile...but then about a month or so ago I decided to go brown because the bleach was so damaging. Is there anything out there to put over dyed hair to take the red tones out? Or something? |

Well,actually when you go back to brown,you have to add that red back in or it could possiably turn green...so I'm afraid you may be stuck with the red undertones.
However,the only other thing I can think to try is this stuff at Sally's beauty supply store called un-red. You would add it to the hairdye and it may help some.
Make sure to avoid all colors that say GOLDEN as they have red tones in them. Pick a deep ASH color,one that is too light may not suffiently cover the red.
Oh,there is something called a protein filler too (you can get at Sally's) in Brown that can be used between colorings to color correct if the red starts coming through.

| Thanks! Ill have to check out the un-red stuff and the filler. My hair was actually fine when I dyed it brown. There werent any red undertones that I noticed. I'm just having problems with the new growth of my hair which is the reddish stuff. |

| Well,unfortunately,that is the price we pay when we dye our hair,LOL (the roots) not a whole lot can be done about it. |
