Hi all,

I am new to the forum, so please excuse me if this topic has been discussed earlier.

Is there any vegetable hair dye available for people with sensitive skin? I am trying to locate PPD/ammonia/peroxide free dyes.  I did extensive search on net, but wanted to hear comments from someone who has really used one.

I have medium brown natural colour and would like to cover gray which is 25% now.

Comments/ideas/suggestions?

L.

Dear All,

Since there has been no reply to my query, I thought I should provide you with updates:

I found an ammonia and hydrogen peroxide free dye. It is Loving care by clairol, a semi-permenant dye. It is really nice since it does not irritate my skin. However, it does not stay long and starts vanishing within few days. Maybe this is because I chose medium brown colour, which is a bit lighter than my natural hair colour! But then, there was no dark brown! It does cover gray though. I have long hair (waist length) so when my gray hair grow out, it may be a problem.

While searching on web, I found few more options. I can post the links if anyone is interested. It would be good to know if there is someone who has experienced them :)

best,
Laraib

Hi laraib,
Sorry no one replied to your request. Most professional hair companies have semi permaent colours without ammonia and hydrogen peroxide, I use Schwarzkopf colour products on my clients hair. Schwarzkopf have a semi colour called Duality you should leave this on the hair for about 15 to 20 mins, it should last for up to 15 washes, but it really does depend on the condition of your hair, maybe thats why you are having a problem with colour fading so quick. Does your hair feel dry, you should have used a dark brown, clairol should have them.

Hope this helps a little , KarenSmile
