Hi, I am new to this site and need some expert advice with my disaster hair color. My hair color was platinum blonde and I decided to go dark for the winter. I went to a professional colorist who decided to give me highlights and darken the rest of the hair into a reddish brown. Unfortunately for me, the color that I came out with is a grayish (ashy) / violet color.

It has been about 4 days since this disastrous experience and I have washed it numerous time to no avail.

I do not want to go back to the same colorist in fear of more damage to my normally fine hair.

Does anyone know how I could at home change my hair color into either a nice golden blonde or light brown color?

Thanks for any help you could provide.

Hi,
I'm very sorry to hear of your color disaster.
I'll offer the best advice I have, though it doesn't exactly answer your question.  Here's my suggestion:
Return to the "professional colorist" who created this mess and express your dissatisfaction.  (If you don't, he/she will never know you were unhappy.)  While there, ask for the following:
1) a full refund
2) a copy of your salon services record (indicating exactly what has been done to your hair in the past)
Do your homework and find a master colorist.  Take your salon service record to your appointment.
This way, you not only solve the immediate problem, you also find a qualified colorist for the future.  :)
Whatever you end up doing to resolve the problem, I wish you luck!
