Ok so its been awhile since I've worn any extensions.I used hair I got from Indianhairs.com.The looks and feels beautiful. It was worth the money I spent.I installed with liquid gold(personal preference).I put wefts all the way up to the top of my head. They are literally sitting over my part.My hair is super short so i needed to cover it all. Then I used a frontal I made out of a crappy lace wig I had. This is the result.I'm actually suprised how well it turned out.And here's your hair porn, lol. With all the pics I took you would think I'm full of myself .

You guys are so sweet .
Nursie: I use goo gone to take out LG.But In the past I just used olive oil and conditioner. It is a pain to get out,but it holds so much better for me than protacs.Plus I just found out how to make it gooey again after getting too solid.I had half a bottle I thought was useless.
Stacey m:The frontal peice really is what made it possible. My hair is only like 3 inches long allover.I only left a tiny bit of hair out at the very front.
NakedEye:What are you talking about.I've seen your pictures and your gorgeous.
Yorkieluvr06:It really easy to DIY,plus loads cheaper.I have no doubt you'll be showing off your new install soon .Plus it gets easier with every install.

Hi Longhairdreams!
Congratulations!!! That is an amazing work you've done, it's hard to believe that your hair is so short!
I feel like a puperwoman when I do my hair extensions install but you must feel even better, if you had very short hair to start with.
I am very impressed, especially the fornt thing -I have to say I am not sure what it is, a part of a lace front wig? but then can you keep it on?... - anyway, be proud of yourself, your hair looks like the job of a professional hair stylist!!!
And you're a very pretty girl too, which helps!

LOL frenchie@ puperwoman. Its always a confidence boost to get long hair. The front piece is called a lace frontal.I used it to hide the wefts that went all the way up to the top.Because of the lace base its super light and less bulky. It really makes a difference and its alot cheaper than a full lace.
Amanda:Yes I finally lost the last of my stubborn baby weight.I'm sure the hair is slimming. So I have new hair and a new body. Thanks for noticing.it was no easy feat.I love my kids but they sure did a number on my body, lol.
You girls are great.I was pms' ing(TMI) until I read all the sweet comments.

You and your hair are just GORGEOUS!! great job, hon--- i have to ask you, w/the lace frontal piece, how exactly does that work w/the wefts? does it stay on your head too? Or, do you have to take it off at nite?

Its a closure. And it sits on top of the wefts.I glued it down with lace glue.So Its on there better than my wefts, lol. If you look at the last pic you can see where it starts. It looks kind of yellow(overzealous knot bleaching).
Ok so pics arent working for me today so here's a link to a vendors fotki. He has pics of the inside and outside of frontal and closure's.Not sure of the exact difference except closure's look to cover a little more area.

P.s. I didnt get it from him.I'm just using his pics for reference.

When you take down the LG using goo gone, do you have to wait a while before you
attempt to take the wefts out?

Frenchie:I could wash it,but I will probably remove just the closure when I do.Lace peices are fragile and it wouldnt be good to wahs it while attached. It literally took two minutes to put on in the first place so Its no big deal.
Thanks darling nikki your too sweet.
Malibu:I soak the tops of my wefts for like fifteen minutes and they fall out on their own. This stuffs definitely not as scalp friendly as normal orange oil.It can cause a little bit of irritation I found. But I'm impatient, and this gets them out quick without me ripping my hair out, lol.
Sherrie:Thanks, that means alot coming from you.Your installs are fabulous.
Hal:Here are some before pics. You can see how short my hair was not long ago if you check out my hair journal.

Omg, your hair looksd absolutely gorgeous!!! Great job! Wow, what a big difference. I can't believe how short your hair is, and how well you are able to hide it!
If you don't mind me asking, how would one go about in making a frontal? My hair, like yours is very short, on top at least. I have about 3 to 4 inches of hair on top, but everywhere else is longer. Very layered, very textured. I'd like to try doing my very first install using wefts and protac, but I'm afraid I won't be able to camoflauge the top! Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I wouldnt reccomend making one.You have to handtie each hair which would take forever.I didnt make this one.I had a crappy lace front and I cut around the front to make the piece I'm wearing.
Frontals are kind of pricey but make the difference between my short hair extended looking like it growing from my scalp rather than looking mullety. This hair is 22in. Last time I wore extensions my hair was shoulder length and didnt look half this good.
I went all the way up and you could clearly see I was wearing extensions until I applied the top piece. The i just brushed it in and noone would ever know it wasnt my own.I'm the type to tell anyhow, but it saves alot of too long conversations, lol.
Noneya:If you are wearing something with a little to alot of curl and not going too long you can definitely blend into your own hair.I have done this when my hair was short before, but I used a wavy hair and didnt go any longer than just below the shoulders.

Hmm, I'm not sure I understand fully. So the lace frontal you used is mainly a piece you cut out from a wig? Do they sell these pieces already made, or would I have to go and buy a lace frontal(?) wig, and then cut out a piece? hah. Sorry if I sound really slow. I'm an amateur here, lol. I would really like to try the method you've used. Looks fab!!! Is there anywhere I can purchase this (peices)?
How did you cut it? Meaning, into what shape? Strips, a square? How small or large? And did you cut out just one piece and attach it to one side, or did you cut out two pieces (one for each side)... or was it one large piece to cover both top sides, including the back?
My hair has a natural slight wave to it, but I do plan on wearing long and straight. I flat iron a lot. Thanks again hun.

Thank you amanda .
I did it that way,but you can buy lace frontals ready to go.Its not reccomended to cut one from a wig. That would be expensive and very wasteful.Mine was on its last leg, which is why I salvaged it.
Its big enough to cover the top of my head.I posted this earlier if you look at the last unlocked file on the second page there are pics of both a frontal and closure. And here's a visual diagram of how it covers my head.

Longhairdreams wrote:
Not sure of the exact difference except closure's look to cover a little more area. | The big difference in a lace frontal and a closure is the construction, the materials used, and how they are applied.
In GENERAL a lacefrontal is meant to be bonded in place. Like a lacefront wig a lacefrontal piece has a realistic hairline which is meant to mimic hair growing from the scalp. When applied correctly, it achieves just this affect. Lace frontals can be sewn in place, but due to the delicate nature of the materials in which it is constructed from, and in order to achieve the look of naturally growing hair, it is better suited for a bonded application
In GENERAL a closure piece is usually used in a sew in application. If placed properly just behind the hairline, it can allow the wearer to do a full weave with no hair left out while giving the appearance of a natural hairline and scalp area. Breathable closures are usually constructed from silk mesh with a poly strip around the outer perimeter of the mesh which strengthens the mesh. (allowing for a sewn-in application) Other places (such as Extensions Plus) use a combination of lace and silk monofilament
material to create it's breathable skin top closures. Non breathable closures are usually a silk mesh top with a full flesh colored poly coating or flesh colored vinyl skin top (which was once popular in older style wigs) Closures can be installed by bonding and well as by attaching it by sewing clips to the underside, and attaching it using the clips.
Hope this helps..

Hehe, thank you for the visual explanation. It makes sense now. I see that the closure covered mainly the front/sides. Was your hair in the (top) back long enough to stay down on it's own, and cover your highest back weft?

Thank you Amm,this is my best install yet.
No prob Noneya. And thanks again to DivaV for explaining the difference between frontals and closures.
Noneya:The frontal has hair all around the base so it covered the back like the front.Granted its only a little bit of hair but that all thats needed. My hair is super straight naturally so it blended in the back very well. And my hair did cover the wefts in the back.Plus I had a couple of wefts layered over the top under the frontal.I was afraid it would be bulky but it layed very flat.
Here's another visual of how I covered the wefts in the back. The pink lines symbolize the wefts placed on the very top of my head running down the sides. The purple lines show the wefts I glued to the top running down the back of my head. And then the frontal was glued/taped over the top.HTH.

My hair is still that length.A meazly 3 inches. My new hair is very versatile.I can wear high ponytails, curl, flatiron etc..I'm not going to do any involving heat though. But I have the option if I wanted.Plus because this is indian hair it has a beautiful natural wave after washed.I'm not sure what you mean when being careful. But Its important with any extensions to keep heat away from the bonded area. But I can do whatever I want to the top piece since my own hair is protected underneath it.

Hey
What Bond Remover did you use for The Liquid Gold Bond Glue?? I purchased the Liquid Glue and the Bond Remover... i like the liquid gold Bond Glue itself....But the Bond Remover I dont like....its hard to get the tracks out.....The smell from the remover is strong.......Do you know if I can use any other bond remover for the Liquid Gold Bond.......I glued some tracks onto a mannequin to test it out before i did my clients hair...and the tracks did not come out right away...i used the reover...but it left glue residue in the hair....i used the comb and stuff to get it out...what worked to get the glue out was the flat iron....I shampooed the head twice the smells in there stilll.. Do not like the remover.
Do you know of any other remover that will work...I went to the store and the guy who works there showed me 2 types of liquid glue..one was GOld Bond and the other was i dont remember

Oh my gosh your hair looks great!!!
I am really going to try doing this myself when it's time to remove my great lenghts.
Question for you. How much did the wefts from indianhairs cost u?
Are they hand tied wefts? And how much did you use?
They really do look great!

I paid $200.But that was for 1lb of hair. And that was for 24 inch. No,they are machine wefted, but they carry handtied. This hair is alot of work. Its raw virgin indian hair.So it usually has grey hair and nit shells. Those things can be taken care of but if your looking for hair you can wear as soon as you receive it this is not the hair for you.Other sites who carry virgin indian charge more but they take care of the dirty work for you.So it comes to you conditioned and cleaned.Plus they dont make you order by the lb.
I am wearing 4 ounces.Which isnt much but i look better with thinner hair.most people need 6-8 ounces.
