I recently got most of my heat damage trimmed off, and just invested in some professional products. (Schwarzkopf - Its a salon brand from Europe somewhere) They're good, due to my new job I've only recently got into salon products, so I don't know HOW good, just that my hair feels soft and there is some breakage, but muchh less than normal. I got a Intensive conditioner, a protein treatment, a regular moisturising shampoo and conditoner, and some straightening product. Since I spent the best part of 30 pounds on this - Dunno how much this is in $$, just that a pound is around 75 cents.
Would it really be worth buying more stuff? If so, what products would be good for my processed curly hair that I straighten every day?
I've heard Butter Treat is good, but its 15 pounds!!

Redken is deft. worth the cash for me. It works great on my hair. But if the other products work good for you, why fix it if it ain't broken. Just make sure you use heat when applying the protein treatment, so it can penetrate the hair. And always deep condition after a protein treatment, otherwise your hair feel aweful.

When I got into messing around with my hair I began by using Schwarzkopf shampoo and conditioner (I'm not sure which one it was, but I remember it had a caffeine/amino acid complex). I found that shampoo made my hair quite soft but it didn't clean it all that well and after a day it felt dirty.

After that I switched to Redken Smooth Down shampoo and conditioner and that's what I've stuck with since. It makes your hair much softer and smell much nicer than the Schwarzkopf range, and it also stays clean for longer. For a while I used the Extreme range of products to fix some breakage but I've now had all the damage cut out so I've gone back to the Smooth Down range.
 
I've never used the Butter Treatment myself but like you I've heard nothing but praise for it. Personally I would try switching to the Redken shampoo and conditioners and see how well they work, and if you still feel you need more moisture then give the Butter Treatment a go.
