I have had short hair all my life...now I am getting bored of it...I really want to grow my hair out(about collar length) but when I tried my thick bushy hair would not cooperate...my hair looked like a giant bush...my question is, is there a hair cut that can reduce the thickness of my hair?

My hair is exactly the same way. I should note that when I've gotten it thinned out the curls and waves REALLY act up. But if you've got straight hair, maybe it would work.

You could also try flat ironing it, but I found that the best thing was to just "grin and bear it" until the hair is long enough to get past the bushy phase.

I have the same problem, every hairstylists i've gone to I practically break their clippers its so thick.. I have decided to grow out my hair, it is currently down to my eyes and getting out of control.. i look like a chia pet.. I've tried styling it to match hairstyles with length of mine but its so thick its almost impossible to do so I just wear a hat everwhere..

My problem is I am looking for a new job and don't want to go in there looking like a chia pet, what can i do with my thick hair to make it look somewhat professional?

thanks.

This may seem like a weird answer, but you could always shave the hair UNDERNEATH,and the top layer will lay flat.

I have seen lots of guys sport this look and I think it's pretty cool looking.

hmm you can just ask your stylist to thin your hair, which really means, they will cut you hairs in layers, they will cut it short on the bottom layer while leaving the top layer longer. it will make your hair less bushy and more manageble. but this is a haircut that need maintanence because once the bottom layer grows out, your hair will become bushy again.
