Am I really ready to cut my hair short? I been thinking about it for the last 6 months. I have been looking at pictures of women of short hair in magazine. I also go to any short hair websites.

If you have been thinking about it that long I would say your ready.

If you've been thinking about it so long and don't know you want to cut it, you're not ready. When you want short hair, you'll know.

You are over thinking this. What is you gut instinct?  Trust it, it is normally right. If you don't like it you can always change it Smile

As a stylist I feel you are ready when you can't handle it anymore and are willing to let it go. Sometimes it becomes too much to take care of when your time is valued. When all you do is pull it back into a ponytail day after day. When you need a change. You may cut it in a rush and regret it so be sure. long hair takes time to grow and 15 to 25 minutes to get cut short. At 6 months  I feel that your afraid as to how it will look. "Nothing ventured - nothing gained". Your at a stand still sounds like your ready.
BE SURE

I toyed around with short hair for awhile and just didn't like anything that anyone did.  So I was growing it back out and one day I just got really hot (I live in Florida) and called my stylist and said cut it all off.  He did and I haven't regretted it for one second (except for one very short spike that I couldn't style).  I am older though so I am not as invested in looking a certain way as I used to be.  I think for younger girls and women it is very hard to let go of the hair.  People can be very critical, even if you look better.  Even though I am 50 when I cut my hair off a few years ago my husband hung some of the old long hair pictures of me around the house for awhile hoping I would get the hint.  He is converted now though.

It's fun to try new things and hair always grows back. If you have been thinking about it and looking into it I think you definitely have an interest and probably are ready. If you change your mind after you cut it, then hair always grows back and you can experiment with a lot of styles in the in-between stages. I've been short and I have been long. I'm growing it out right now for my wedding, and both ways I have had fun with it.
