Hello,

I'm clearly new to this forum and honestly new to the concept of hair styling and blow drying. I'm a guy and I wash and then dry my own hair and that's it.

I'm interested in learning the basics of blow-drying and styling, because I want to be able to do my wife's hair. She really likes how much better her hair is after she goes to the salon, and just last week we had a special event to go to and she had her hair washed and blow-dryed (not cut, I'm not about to lean that) and we both really liked it - it's always better, dare I say it, when someone else blow-drys her hair, partly for obvious reasons, like two free hands.

Now, this isn't to infer that I could instantly be as great as any of you pros out there, but I do think that I could learn how to do the basics and then work my way up from there. Plus, it would be a great gift to my wife, which is the other real appeal (the money savings isn't my impetus).

All that said, can anyone point me to books, sites (maybe this one?), etc that would have good resources on how to blow-dry and style hair? I'm usually pretty good about finding this sort of thing, but I think part of the problem is that I don't know what I'm looking for. I'd like to learn the actual blow-drying techniques, what types of other "tools" to use, what sorts of products do what, etc.

And to give myself a little credibility, I already buy all of my wife's clothes, so I've got some talent. Big%20smile

Thanks!

I suggest going to the salon with your wife and watch the stylist do her hair.

When you blow dry her hair, wait until it is just damp, than take small sections with a round brush and blow dry from top to bottom, using the round brush to control the amount of volume and direction of the hair.

Practice, practice, practice, on days that you don't have anywhere to be.

Your wife should already know which products work best for her hair.
