Hiya Two days ago I dyed my hair blonde from dark brown. It said on the box to leave on for 60-90 mins if your hair is medium-dark brown, but after 90 mins it was a bit yellow so I left for 2 hrs. Anyway it was still a bit yellow, so I then washed my hair using a special purple shampoo (which I ordered from the US) straight after. I left on for 10 mins then washed off, and every bit of yellow turned white!!
Anyway now I find that after I wash and condition my hair, after 30 mins or so when it feels a bit like straw until I put water back on it again.
Any advice please on why it may be going like this and any recommended products to keep it a bit more moist.

| i like goldwell kerasilk conditioner for everyday conditioning, and neutrogena triple moisture deep recovery hair mask once (or, if it really feels damaged, twice) a week..neutrogena triple moisture daily conditioners and leave in conditioners are really good too..hope that helps! |

| well, bleaching brown hair to blonde quite often ends up with straw-like dried out frazzled hair...it can be quite damaging, and that damage is best attacked with moisture restoration |

Okay, I bought one of the Elvive Repair Conditioners for Damaged, Brittle, Straw-like hair. Hopefully it will improve it a bit. Does this damage only apply to the hair that has been blonded? i.e. when my brown hair grows back will that be in normal state because thats not bleached? Thanks, Mark. |

You most likely fried your hair. It'll get back some of it's luster in
a few months,it seems the oils from your scalp help, but no
matter how much you condition your hair it won't go abck to the way it
was. I've never left bleach in my hair longer then like an hour.... But the straw like feeling will fade after a while, I mean you did just bleach the hell out of it... ------------- ~* Bambi Lee *~ |

I dont think I fried it since none of it has fallen out, or even broken off! The straw feeling has almost completely gone now and its maintained some moisture. I have noticed some of the dark brown just showing near the roots.. So when this has fully grown, say in a few months will that be in normal state because that has not been bleached at all?

| NEUTROGENA NEUTROGENA NUTROGENA I cant say it enough!! I went from very dark to almost a platnium. My hair was YUCKY I tried ALOT of products TIGI BEAD HEAD DUMB BLONDE worked alrite. But the neutrogena triple mositure S/C worked wonders. Remember you broke down your hair's make up so yes the hair is fragile be nice to it, and it'll get better. If you do decide to go back and dye your hair again I'd reccomend I THINK it's revlon but I'm not to sure but they have a hair dye that has toner in it. Its formulated for dark hair, it'll lift your color WITH OUT the brassyness we all hate all in one step and it leaves your hair managable and soft. Just my $0.02. |

Okay thanks for the info.
I will try get hold of the Neutrogina Triple Moisture. Anyway my hair condition has now improved quite a bit over the last few days with using the repair conditioners (daily) and is now smoother and softer with hardly no brittle at all.
I think that when the brown grows back fully I might decide to leave it as it is and avoid bleaching again
