I read through a lot of the postings and didn't see anything to answer my question, so please forgive me if I am repeating here! And yes, I would LOVE to go to a salon to get it done professionally, but I am a teacher and just can't even afford that right now. (Why I did it myself in the first place)
OK, here is what I did...
My natural color is a dark brown. I had highlights done in early September. They were a blondish color. Anyway, I decided in November that I was bored and wanted something darker and more fun. (Mistake #1) haha
At the end of November I dyed my hair with a Feria color that was supposed to be a dark brown/burgandy. My hair ended up a deep burgandy/purple color. It looked cool, but was way too bright for me. I waited a week to see how much it would fade. I grew impatient and dyed it again with another Feria color--this time a dark brown. I loved the results--was much happier with it that darker brown.
Here is the problem--it is a month later and I have my roots to deal with. I can't color them with the dark brown I used because the hair color has changed a bit and now it's a brownish red.
Should I just dye it again? Can I use a dark brown again?? If so, would you recommend a particular brand? Or would it be better for me to use a semi-perm so it won't be as harsh? Or should I just be patient and use an ARTec dark brown shampoo to help? Or something else entirely different that I can do to help??
Sorry so long! I just wanted to ask for advice before I end up looking scary!
Thanks!!!!!

i've had that contrasting roots/ends thing before...what i did is follow the root touch up instructions in the box of haircolor, and then pull it through the ends for the last 10minutes to refresh the ends' color
