So you know those days, when you wish that you could maybe, die, and never come back up again? Yeah, so yesterday was kinda like that.
Here's the story:
A few months ago I FINALLY was able to grow out my hair to a semi-decent length. I didn't realize how long it really was until I looked at pictures- really long for me, impatient me, who gets cuts her hair short all the time- my hair was around bra-strap length. Then, last November, for some ridiculous reason, I decided to cut my hair. I asked for shoulder-length, and I got about chin-length. Needless to say, I wasn't very happy, but I just decided to deal with it because it wasn't that bad.
So I'm growing my hair out, but since the last time the lady had cut my hair almost straight across, it started looking very... mushroomy. Even my own mother noticed it, and told me to get a haircut at her place. And there the drama begins- the lady gave me a MULLET. That's right ladies (and those rare gentlemen on this board), a mullet. I scare myself whenever I look in the mirror, seriously, its that bad. Basically, she left a tiny layer of hair at the base of my scalp (to "keep the length"), and layered everything else to around ear-length. I can't even tie it properly to concel my ridiculous hideous hair.
I've had my share of bad haircuts, believe me, but this one tops the charts. I cannot- I absolutely canNOT live with this hair. I've considered cutting my hair again to a short bob- much prefered over the mullet- but I can't even do that because of the sheer stupidity of this style. Honestly- who cuts hair like this??? I look like Joe Dirt. No kidding.
So hair extensions is my next option. I'm not looking for extreme length, or even any length- I just want my hair to go back to the way it was. The longest of my hair just grazes the nape of my neck, and that's the length I want my hair to be. The shortest layer of hair touches around the top of my ear.
I'm going to a hair salon for a consultation tomorrow, but what do you suggest is the best way to go about this problem? My hair is relatively thick, so it'd probably be no problem doing wefts (unless my hair is too short to be braided?). I need to keep these extensions until my actual hair grows back to chin-length, probably around 4-6 months, so I'd like to have the hair I use be reusable. I don't want any length, just the thickness in the sides that my hair used to have before the dreaded mullet. But, I'm a student, and have virtually no money, so what would be the cheapest option available to me? Oh, and I should mention I am Asian, so the hair does not need to be European.
Thanks so much for anyone's help. I'm in deep, deep, hair distress.
